Nomrally, I would be with you, but we are about a hundred chapters up from when we sealed the mom back in around...chapter 80? 85? It's been TEN YEARS waiting to see how its going to resolve and we're off to go on another side-quest arc that's going to take another 2 years to complete.

And no real progress has been show in the 10 years. Kukuri is still out of comission. Kazuya ain't beating full strength Kukuri, let alone his mom's demon echo. Their allies still get bodied by the villain of the week.

Maybe it is just me, but I am tired waiting to see progress of the actual main plot of the story. Contextual fanservice is fine, fanservice during down time where characters are discussing the plot is fine. But literally just 2 perverts watching a highlight real could ahve been replaced with anything more relevant to the story.

edit: and i am fully aware this is an ecchi manga, but the series is not JUST an ecchi manga. it has a good story, and if you're just satisfied with only the ecchi, you are missing out.

Tfym he apologised and the protagonist was like, "yeah it's alright". Go back and read what he did bro it's disgusting.

They said in the chapter, he is the only one who can effectively lead the exorcists, especially in short notice when they are at war, and need to be coordinated when they go and fight with the bad guys. He has at bare minimum a decade or two of experience in running the temple, and was already almost head priest when he tried to seize the position. He also was stated to be the strongest living exorcist (outside of MC and Suano of course).

At least this means there is actually some impact from Ouhi dying. If it was just her clone body or whatever taking over for her, it'd lessen the (already minimum) consequences from one of the only real deaths in the series

Bruh that was years ago. The last arc (or the rather the arc prior to the resolution/end of the current developments) goes well out of it's way to glaze the shit out of Kazuya. Blatant night and fucking day compared to when he started, but IMO it's better exemplified by when he arrived at Tsuzura Temple. Like gaddayum, the best of Kazuya's ninth-sigil peers might have complete mastery over their tsukumogami, but the ninth-sigil boy (kek) controls not only five tsukumogami, but full mastery of five fucking tsukumogami.

Shit, think about it: he doesn't necessarily even need all of them to begin with. This is a narrative flex. Whatever you think of the training the soul of his actual mother gave him, who the fuck knows what he'll do when he gets the actual runback with 'Aberration Kagami'. My bet is that she'll get fourth asshole, courtesy of Kukuri. But on the account of Aberration Kagami being a corpse, my guess is probably is an abdominal bisection, since Kukuri already "renovated" her sternum.

Everything since Kanaka has basically been a glorified training arc and side quest, because that's kinda the point. I mean, technically, he could've just gave a quick training montage and quickly revive Kiriha and Kukuri in like a few chapters or a short arc, and timeskipped right to the final battle, which he clearly didn't wanna do.

Also, I'm gonna say that the story is servicable. Definitely not bad, but take away all the fanservice and basically porn, then it honestly becomes a very basic exorcist battle shonen with a pretty bland harem MC as the lead.

He was technically reborn. And he did pay a penance. He didn't even move when Chikage attacked with her spear, and that would have ended him.

But also, it was Oriobana's will. So I think that they are definitely doing it more for her than anything else.

Even if it's super ambiguous how this rule goes in japan, to draw him doing it directly would just crossed a line for a seinen magazine. But the way the artist drew them, It's a you know I know situation.

We're basically in a state where pretty much any sidequest or sideplot can be excused. And if the time comes that the manga has to end, whether due to higher ups' demands or the author getting bored, he can just timeskp straight into the final arc.

That's what I've been saying. The only actual "plot progression" since Kanaka got sealed is getting to the fight with Kanaka. Every single thing in between is technically just side quests or "filler". Not that I'm complaining.
