"for this country to survive...they need enemies that can be dealt with" What an awkward sentence. I'm assuming it means the country needs the capability to deal with enemies, but the phrasing could also be read to mean the opposite. Saying "the country needs enemies" sounds ridiculous, but I've read braindead mangas with royalty that does that kind of thing before. In short, translation is kinda shooting 1st prince in the foot for me.

So for a crime that is deserving of execution they just need to apologize? That's so stupid. It feel like if a high-ranking member of the government committed treason and instead of being executed they were just told to write a letter saying they were sorry to the president.

Perchance I’m reading this incorrectly, but do they know that the MC and the villainess are reincarnators?
That prince might be too, since he truthfully told Fine that he didn't meet her, despite the game's story saying it's he that enrolled her in the academy.

You need the context from the following page, where he talks of needing to apply pressure and of the need of that pressure to survive.
I think he means for them to fight enemies that lead to their growth.

i think not, they are irregulars, like Elise got information that she shoudn't have and mc is too strong for his age

so CP is dumb as hell giving the heroine who is a teenager commoner a ridiculous challenge that could end her life as he know just so she could grown up strong? dumb as hell, it makes sense on paper but in reality he would just lose the saintess for nothing, if the "irregularity" wich is the mc didn't appear this country was doomed, mc didn't talk about what would happen to this country without the saintess but i guess that it would be hard to fight the final boss without her

Another reincarnator?

Wow they're kinda skipping a lot here. Everything is going fast forward. They skipped the training arc last chapter too.

In case you are wondering why MC got angry when the idiot prince pulled out the Holy Sword Clear, it's because the sword was a Saintess named Clear who sacrificed her life to defeat the first Demon Lord. MC thought that the prince waving her around and using her for vain and idiotic things is a massive disrespect to the sacrifice she had made.

Didn't this chapter just directly say that?

You're right, but you also missed the point. The sentence wouldn't require context if it was constructed without the double meaning.

The entire concept of trial by combat was always ridiculous to me. It doesn't prove shit, and it's beyond me how anyone would think it's reasonable.

The gravest sins in this matter belong to my foolish brother and Elise, who incited him. They abused royal privilege and brought a sacred treasure into such a place. Ordinarily, execution would not be unwarranted, however…
[…]
I believe forcing those prideful two to publicly apologize to Ash Leben and Fine Staudt in the grand hall of the Royal Magic Academy would suffice.
Oh yeah, normally they could even be executed, but I guess an apology will be fine. What a load of bullshit.

No, today should be the first time I've ever met you.
...
Only by gaining the strength to repel that pressure can we secure the right to survive a hundred years from now. If my own body must decay as the foundation for that future, so be it.
Elses got replaced by an eldritch being... Are we sure his name isn't actually Hikaru?

Is there a chance Ash will be punished for his actions in this duel?
No. He is the one who recovered our family's holy sword.
Talk about missing the point. Ash should not be punished even if the holy sword weren't involved, because Ash and Fine proposed and won the duel fairly. (But also, using duels as a substitute for legal justice is an annoying trope.)
