The obvious observations about this chapter aside--

For him possessing both the "story" memories, his own, and now these current experiences overlapping them... I have to imagine that was a bit of a mindfuck, him having consensual loving sex with her while simultaneously having the "false memory" of the original him raping her overlaid onto to the moment.

In a way, this is playing on the usual trope of "I'll overwrite your memory of the other guy" and changing it to "I'll overwrite my own memories of the bad version of myself".

Dunno if the author was going for that, but it's interesting that it's what results.
