First chapter actually mistranslates it for some reason. Forgot which group

最恐の悪魔、this sounds fine in jp, but a literal translation in this case is pretty meh. Something around the lines of The Horror or Terror would have worked much better. It’s implied he’s a devil, and the use of the single word already encompasses the maxim of its definition. keep in mind it’s an explanatory nickname, it simply defines what he is perceived as, Saikyou no Akuma (different from saikyou-the best), saikyou being sai (the most) and kyou (terror, horror). Still, I bet some thinking could provide a better name, though the simplicity of these two examples is probably the most fitting imho.

From what I understood from the early chapter discussion threads, it has always been 2000 years, but it was (somewhat) consistently mistranslated.

Edit: I went back to the RAWs and here's an example from chapter 1, page 15:

It clearly says ２千年間 => 2 sennenkan => a period of 2000 years

最恐の悪魔 (not to be confused with 最強の悪魔) => Saikyou no Akuma.

Partially yes. We know he’s OP but that’s in the context of this world. We had no idea how strong he was in hell, as the beginning sort of is vague about how much power he really had as he’s kinda like “I was really weak but then I took some time and I got some power before I got blasted by collateral damage from the gods and almost died”

Let me put it like this:
If the MC pops out his devil form and kicks ass, we're shown that he's stronk, so we're establishing our convinction that: "the MC is strong even in hell".
I.E: We don't need like 5 pages dedicated to fluff the MC's garfield, to be told he's really cool, dashing, and handsome. It's okay to just let things happen without explicitly pointing it out.

It might be one of those titles that's really cool in Japanese, but the translation is too blunt to have the same effect.

It's cool, like Bayle from Elden Ring being called stuff like "the vilest of dragons". Far better than some scrimblo bimblo name or heckin' epic one word/liner
