Me trying to find the so called "low brow snake hate comments" when 90% of the comments are shit posts about her, and 5% are breakdowns on how "Maybe its okay to psychologically manipulate people if your home life sucks".

You know who else had a shitty time growing up? Jeffrey Dahmer. Does him having a shitty childhood justify his actions? Absolutely not, so why are people glorifying her behaving like a sociopath just simply because she is "Interesting". It comes off as those cringy "I want her to kill me" type people.
Amazing equivalency. Maybe you should go back to school.

Always good to see Snek get attention. It's crazy how dark her storyline is compared to everything else in the story.

I'm sure if they show some more subtle prostitution and mommy issues to "justify" her actions and relationship wrecking I'll start caring :D

You can just say you don't actually know what's happening in the plot. You'd still look ridiculous, but at least you also wouldn't look foolish at the same time.

I don't see how the equivalency is an issue? Obviously it is slightly exaggerated to compare her to a serial killer, but if you actually read what I said you would understand it has nothing to do with the end result. It had everything to do with a tragic backstory does not equal you get forgiven for everything you do that wrongs innocent people.

I will return the gesture, and say maybe go back to middle school reading. I get it's hard to get through an entire statement without losing your attention span. I need to start including a subway surfer gif with every long message so that way people like you can stay engaged, and not shadow box an argument that doesn't exist.

Go back and re-read the comment you replied to. I was very particular about my word choice; I said of those who dislike her, the hate they have for her is disproportionate to her actions in the series. Because again--she's done nothing to Kusunoki yet. And is even in the process of falling for Keisuke, despite her intentions to make the inverse happen.

You made a serious comparison between her and Jeffrey Dahmer in your other comment. Nothing you have to say strikes me as particularly worthy of good faith consideration, if you're going to hyperbolize to such a ludicrous extent in an effort to make your point (badly, I might add).
My point was just because someone has a bad home life does not justify their actions. I chose Jeffry Dahmer because it is someone everyone would know, and actually understand the point I am trying to make. At no point did I say "She is behaving like Jeffry Dahmer" that is not the point I was making.

You can just say you conveniently ignored those text messages in this chapter and forgot the previous chapters :D

If your reading comprehension is so abysmal that you can't parse the subtext of what's being portrayed, that's no one's fault but your own.

I will only admit blame in thinking it was worth any amount of time spending the effort to engage with you. Feel free to carry on being blind to the nuance of the world around you; as they say: "ignorance is bliss" so I'm sure you lead a very charmed life.

Okay, and? Hebikawa herself isn't justifying her actions, and I'm not exactly sure where I ever did that, either.

The only thing I've said is that what she has done hasn't actually been terrible, beyond be mean to those who were mean to her when she was a kid, and then be rude and dismissive "with a smile" to guys who constantly hit on her. She humors her mom's boyfriend while he repeatedly comes onto her, so that he'll stick around in her mom's life; she was kind to Keisuke's face in middle school, then turned around and treated him like he was the nobody he was when asked about him from others--to the point she didn't remember him at all at first, because of how much he'd changed/"debuted" in high school.

Since then, Keisuke has been accusing her of plotting to get involved with Kusunoki, and Hebikawa herself has declared her intent to "expose Kusunoki's dark side", but has done actual fuck-all in carrying out that plan. Keisuke was the one who started this whole "compensated dating" bullshit that some readers like to parrot, when it was explained three chapters later.

And the "actionable portion" of her "Plan" that's been declared since the beginning of volume 5? She's gotten involved with Keisuke, who has sought her out himself on two separate occasions when he could have just turned around and walked away. And she wants to make Keisuke fall for her, because she's clocked that Kusunoki has feelings for him back in chapter 31--something she denied until chapter 53. Lo and behold, Hebikawa has instead witnessed Keisuke's earnest side on two major occasions (when he got her away from Koji in chapter 33, and again with her lonesome birthday three chapters later), and when he saw right through her in chapter 42, she got upset at the fact the one action she'd taken fell through, while starting the process of falling for him at the same time.

So, again--every "bad" thing she's done, was in flashbacks in elementary and middle school. Elementary, she was lashing out against those who bullied her first. She made the "dark choice" variant of Kusunoki, which is why she's the main heroine's counterpart; they both were bullied as children due to being "too nice", and Hebikawa turned cynical and cold while Kusunoki retreated into herself and became an introvert.

Go back and look at previous chapter comment sections. Hebikawa is treated as scum of the Earth, when if you read through her actual story and what she's done in the narrative thus far, it all feels rather blown out of proportion. You can say "well she's been mean to people", and that's fair. She'd say it first, because she believes that kindness is a mask and that everyone is selfish on the inside. Because that is her character arc.
But point out to me where she's done something that actually warrants the hate she's gotten from those who express such contempt for her character. Because she's not as violent as Otobe, she's not as persistently annoying or aggressive as Airi, and I would argue Kusunoki has hurt Keisuke more than her, in the present timeline of high school--even if it was unintentional.

All that to say--she's a complicated character who has been set up to be the counterpart to Kusunoki, and that alone paints her in an unfavorable light. But acting like she's some irredeemable villain who's earned the amount of hate that some people here have leveled at her is asinine. She's got a character arc that's seen her change even since middle school, and again throughout the First Year they've been covering in the series. There's a reason she's the third heroine and not just an out-and-out antagonistic figure, after all.

Chapter 33. Start here.

She says his name ("Koji-san") when he's first introduced, which is corroborated by her mom talking at the start of this most recent chapter.

Your personal feelings toward Hebikawa aside, nothing about what we've been shown points to her actually doing what people here accuse her of doing. And all of that stems from Keisuke himself jumping to conclusions after the end of chapter 29, and even though it was cleared up in the following volume, some readers insist on spreading the lie. It's not a fake-out, and it hasn't been since chapter 33.
Your links are wrong but chapter 33 was right.
I had forgotten the details of that interaction. So that makes her responses to the questions make more sense - she doesn't want to break mom's heart by driving off the boyfriend who's trying to get into the daughter's panties.
So just full on ick.

though ya'll need to stop assuming everyone who isn't pro-Hebikawa is anti-Hebikawa.

Cheers; link edited.

And I'm pretty sure I specifically addressed those who actively badmouth her. Which I would ascribe as "anti-Hebikawa". A group I did exclude you from, even. But if people are going to repeat verifiable lies when stating their subjective opinions about a character in a series, I don't see why those should go uncorrected.

Snek-mom's lowkey a POS. Snek already has to deal with her mom's boyfriends creeping on her, and now she's gotta listen to her mom talking about her sex life with them too.

You can just say you have an immature, vindictive girl fetish bro. It ain't that deep. Still doesn't make her an appealing character whatsoever though 😅

There's this thing called forgiveness and understanding, and I don't think you've noticed but it makes the world go round. It lets people actually focus on building better relationships going forward, instead of dwelling on what's already happened.
