It's always great to have quiet Kogane moments. Zanma-sensei pulls a neat trick with Goro's line "Two seat strollers are pretty expensive, huh?" I, like Kogane, thought Goro was also fantasizing about future children, which extended the poignant mood. Of course, as Kogane snaps into her usual effervescent self, Goro's surprise reveals he was only musing about how expensive it would be to buy one for Sugimoto's two children. I don't know what the lore excuse will be but that doesn't seem to be the case for shape-shifting foxes (bakegitsune). Akane and Kogane both seem to be single kit births unless there were some horrible tragedies we have not been told of yet.

... Then again, I'm also kind of sure Kogane wants at least 4 even if one at a time.

But they also achieve independence from their parents in around half a year. On the whole, I think child-rearing would be much easier if you could fit it in a sabbatical.

We'll see what the author wants to make canon, I suppose.
