From Ferdinand's POV in the LN [P4V9, Epilogue], No real spoilers:Pretty sure the cheek pinching punishment is because Ferdinand likes Rozemyne's squishy cheeks.![]()
“But this is a rare opportunity for me to be helpful,” Rozemyne protested, disregarding the fact that Ferdinand was trying to be considerate.
Ferdinand reached out and pinched Rozemyne’s cheek. It was much softer than expected, and quite pleasant to the touch. He squeezed harder, practically massaging her face. It was her fault for having such pinchable cheeks.
“That hurtsh!”
Yes, during his days as a student, Ferdinand stayed as much as possible in the Academy, and he researched a lot. He knew and liked the librarians. He also has plenty of fond memories about duking it out with Dunkelferger.Fernindad really did like the royal librarians didn’t he. The dudes really perked up hearing about ditter too. Poor apprentice knights are going to get lots of training.
God-tier Foreshadowing! The look of Ferdinand when he got told the arch librarians are gone. It actually made him freeze for a second.
hadn’t considered that before but yeah. That’s a huge freaking deal and he probably should’ve done something about itGod-tier Foreshadowing!Ferdinand knows what's in the library and how important the Archnoble Librarians are to access it. He's the last living person to access it! That was a "Yurgenschmidt is doomed" flinch!"
I’m not sure that’s entirely true. Myne made a series of poor decisions that turned a bad situation into something so much worse than it had to be. Yes part of this is ehrenfests fault for not instructing her more clearly on how to deal with royalty but they had no idea she’d be doing that beyond the simple greeting at the start (which she also messed up). Plus Myne should’ve realized that every interaction with royalty required an immediate letter back home asking for advice.Everyone blames Rozemyne for getting dragged along by the upper-ranked duchies and then by the prince, as if she could have avoided it. I always thought this part of the story felt odd. Imo her mistake was standing out, and that's partly Ehrenfest's fault for telling her to raise everyone's grades and to show off Rinsham.
As for the Prince? He made the unreasonable demand for her to stay out of his way in the first place, then got upset when she didn't selectively follow his inconsiderate demand. Yeah, yeah, dealing with Royalty in a [deadly] heirarchy is a pain. But don't blame Rozemyne for that! That's just how the world works, dudes.
That's an interesting question. A big part of this dilemma is that Rozemyne does not possess the common sense of Yurgenschmidt Nobility. Time and again she comes up with plans that fly in the face of common sense (according to Ferdinand). And every time it happens he scolds her, corrects her, gets her to reconsider her actions, and she learns a little. That's good!I’m not sure that’s entirely true. Ferdinand was certainly in a rush here since mine only woke up a few days/weeks before she had to go to the Royal Academy. Obviously just starting a year later would’ve made a lot more sense for everyone, but it would’ve been a permanent stain on her already severely damaged reputation (don’t forget she was “raised“ in the temple), so Ferdinand did a rush job. He taught her the bare minimum she needs to pass her classes and deal with the very limited amount of socializing she’d have to do before returning for the dedication ritual. Importantly, ehrenfest is ranked incredibly low, so there was almost no chance of having any real interaction with an upper ranked duchy, let alone the royal family, so he took the gamble with seemingly good odds and lost badlyThat's an interesting question. But then they send her off to the academy, after she spends two years in a jureve, winging it on a rush job of education, and they expected her not to make mistakes due to her lack of common sense? That's at least half on Ferdinand, if not more than half. I'd say that every mistake she makes didn't have a direct lesson on what to do instead in that situation. "Myne should have realized" is kind of like expecting a bear to ride a bike when it finds one in the woods.
Yes thoughWhat's interesting is that it's not all bad that it works out this way- at many times, Rozemyne's lack of common sense leads her to a better solution than what the orthodox decision would lead to. Including this particular situation. Rozemyne's rude advice to Anastatsius (LN spoilers coming)successfully helps him to marry Eglantine, and ends with him being the least stupid Royal family member. Guys it's LN spoilers. Go read the LN it's so good!Yes though
sigi still got way too close to the throne and the entire country was quite nearly destroyed. That likely wouldn’t have happened if she’d just picked Anastasius to be the next king, since he’s actually competent
