Saito has the pieces right there - just the possibility of kissing Akane was enough to give him the doki-dokis, but he felt absolutely nothing from Himari going in with the tongue. But the boy is denser than a black hole.

As I’ve sat with it more and more, his talk with Himari is pissing me off even more. Like some of the dumbest and densest Protags we’ve seen in manga have that ah ha moment after a talk like that and the fact that it didn’t even move the needle and inch with Saito leads me to think he’s a sociopath honestly. Which would make sense given who is parents are.

I guess this is bothering me so much because anyone with a brain realizes that he’s going to end up with Akane, but the path to that end is becoming more and more frustrating and tiring. Plus, the whole thing at his grandfathers place felt undercut by this chapter and is radiating Rent a Girlfriend levels of undoing progress

Yes, she is nothing special. And that's precisely what Saitou needs. He's never had someone truly treat him like a normal person, everyone's either been afraid of him or doing whatever they can to make him happy. Himari would give in too easy and never get Saitou to really love her

Shise's never going to allow them privacy, huh. Changing the locks wouldn't actually keep her out but it'd send a message at least.

With friends like Himari, who needs enemies? Jesus. I'm really amused the audience generally gives Himari a pass for being a viper because she's hotter than the main girl.

Dunno about everyone else but himari doesn't get a pass for being hotter, but she gets a pass in the most part because the engagement was forced and mc, at least up until recently, was still rather against it.

Himari shooting her shots even while knowing Akane likes him I dont personally think is an issue, they agreed to both put their all into getting him and "alls fair in love and war". Akane has had a significant advantage as Himari mentioned by being the one to live with him. Showing him a constant flow of affection, albeit heavily saturated in tsundere-ness, is a major method of breaking through that massive fortress mc has built around his heart

So Himari love bombing whenever she can is a way to try to "catch up" but unfortunately it just wont cut it.

I mean, he really kind of is. But it isn't from a wiring issue, its a trauma response. Help him come to terms with the trauma and he will slowly learn how to properly love and feel affection
