It took a while but the comeuppance is so damn tasty in these stories despite everything else. NGL though I hope that this becomes a chance to expand the world a bit now that the royal govt and the overall guilds are getting involved. Maybe a new city; maybe some fast travel; maybe pursuing a material that will allow him to further develop in the wasteland; maybe just a meeting with the higher-ups in the guild on the horizon?!
There’s so much that could happen.

Have we read a different story? She was the very first person to shun him when he entered the guild and directly involved in the GM's schemes to basically enslave Yuuta.

P.s. Having read chapter 39 again I am willing to take back the first part (though she was definitely treating him like dirt later, especially when arriving with his disciples), not the second one though. She personally handed the oppressive contract to Yuuta.
she is hot though. :pacman:

The most hilarious part is that everything could have been resolved with an honest apology and clearing MCs reputation.
Heck, it could’ve been resolved way earlier if he just hadn’t screwed over mc in the duel. Even if he wasn’t necessarily a spirit mage, the dude was clearly stupidly powerful and the GM decided it’d be better to just piss him off for basically no reason. Imagine the boost to his power and reputation if he’d just recruited him!

I really hope MC stands his ground and doesn't forgive this former guild master :aquadrink:

thank you for translation
as much as I’d like that, he’s not looking to make an enemy of the entire country. Yeah he’d probably beat the 3 s-rank adventurers and the entire army but he’s got no reason to start a fight with them. Just agree to sell them rare materials for an insane amount of money. Heck, they might even make him an honorary noble and formally give him the land he’s claimed

Objection upheld.

While she is prejudiced against spirit mages, all of the guild basically is and it was explained why - because it's a prestigious occupation that is sought out by nobles and royalty and new adventurers often pose as them for clout and other benefits. No one believes someone who could live a cushy life on a big-wig's dime would choose a dangerous, grueling job of dungeon crawling instead and you can hardly blame them for it.

Also, her disdain for him personally only manifested on account of the kids, since she was under the impression he was exploiting them.

As for the contract, that's like holding a grudge against a secretary for handing it to you. Even if she wrote it herself, it's not her initiative, dude.

I wont deny she treated him badly due to the general prejudice against spirit mages, but even after learning he was a spirit mage she actively shut down Carl's challenge to protect (what she thought was a helpless) Yuuta. And all the times he brought in stones or mats she gave him the fair price!

As far as the contract, Personally i really hope she didn't know she knew what was in the contract and was just handing him something the guild master had already written without looking at it to hard (probably wishful thinking on my part). But she did give a real apology!

Really it was when she was protective of the kids, but back off when they said they trusted Yuuta, while always giving accurate info on request. That makes me think she isn't all bad. Meanwhile the guild master just doubled down over and over and being a shit head so i don't think its fair to hold them to the same punishment, and would like to see a redemption arc for her. :glee:

Nice. That was really nice. In the web novel it was only narrated by third parties, so it is really satisfying to actually see the guildmaster when his world breaks apart.

For all those who want to know the guildmaster's exact fate (it would take hundreds of manga chapters to get there afterall, if it follows the novel): The guildmaster gets sent to a frontier village at the edge of the Land of Death, where he has to fight undead monsters daily as a penal soldier.
If I was the MC, I would ask that part of my compensation be that everyone who was involved and is being punished become my slaves. Need some more hands to help restore the wasteland.
Setting aside your weird fixation on slaves, he surely wouldn't want people with whom he has a hateful relationship in his secret base. They wouldn't even be much help, he has the spirits and his tools afterall. But ironically you aren't far off from his actual fate

Yah I really like how the guild master is getting his comeuppance

Just really hope Eltina and the other guild clerks don't get screwed because of him. Even if Eltina wasn't the nicest, she was always honest and never tried screw over Yuuta. :worry:

Here's hoping she joins Yuuta as some sort of clerk to handle any paperwork/a nanny for the kids :glee:

Thanks for the chapter!
unfortunately she also gets punished, if this doesn't deviate with the web novel, her and the guild master got sent into a pioneer settlement near the border of the land of the dead (far from Yuta's base) as free labor

The adventurer guild staff got an overhaul just for appeasing Yuta, with a new guild master that's just there to not get on Yuta's bad side and a new receptionist named Richeleu (her name is really hard to spell) who Yuta describe as a beautiful capable secretary

With Eltina's exit on the spot light comes 2 receptionist replacing her screen time, one is Richeleu and the other is Betty, a foody receptionist of the merchant's guild

Which one? The one with the clear intent to get him to the guild in the first place in chapter 82 or the one to stop him from dueling (massacring) all adventurers present in chapter 86?
The second, based on her facial expressions she feals guilt over standing by as Yuuta was harassed.

I'm just hoping there'll be an arc soon where the MC meets one of the big-shot spirit mages he's being compared against and said spirit mage realizes his relationship with Sylphy and the others and actually gives him the respect he deserves. I'm kinda over this whole "Everyone thinks the MC is trash" schtick. (Yes I know there are a number of characters who don't but you get my point.)
