Tks for the heads up. Unlike most rational beings (after browsing the coments, apparently not that rare lol), i got a friend request and accepted (old habit due to excess of online communities....); but then i went to see the user and found the account was banned and a weird link attached to it, which caused me to unfriend right away.....
Btw if you need the identification, just ask

Just posting to specify that I am not a fake account. You guys gotta really enforce checking of the domain name, I downloaded a trojan virus that my anti-virus thankfully managed to contain.
My tendency not to log in saved me a whole bunch too, thank god I do it sparingly.

@Happily_Grim

You have kinda proved how easy it is for people to make simple mistakes. If you had read the announcement you'd have seen it says we have 2FA and even a link to a guide on how to enable it.

And I'M NOT HAVING A GO AT YOU, just pointing out how crazily easy it is for people to not read things properly, or check domain names which can lead to situations like this :D

Where do you guys even find fake mangadex links?
I always directly type it into my address bar, can't be tricked that way.

I'm so anti-social I hadn't even realized I HAD a friend request until I read this post. Of course it's from a banned account. Swelp, time to back to reading.

This sounds familiar, I'm pretty sure I got one of these but rejected it, because it looked suspicious.

@ixlone - Well, I certainly never said I was infallible, however I'm not necessarily sure I agree with your analogy. Sure, I make mistakes. You could even say that the sum of who I am is built on a foundation of failures and mishaps. However, I also prudently try to take any necessary precaution and preventative measures when I can -- particularly when my security is involved. There's no doubt I was unaware of the two-step authentication available; however, as a user who vanishes for months at a time in order to accumulate a backlog (or because of life) I don't belive that missing an announcement is a "mistake" as much as it's just poor timing. Additionally, missing the announcement wouldn't invalidate the diligence I consciously, and consistently, put into ensuring that I remain secure. At least that's what I believe.
I wasn't condemning people for their role in my comment, as much as I was more genuinely confused. Phishing has been around for as long as I can remember. Since the days of '733t warez' groups on AOL and probably before -- it's been a constant pernicious existence. One that, in most cases, has evolved into a multifarious monster that continues to grow. I would hope that by now, with a generation that's never known a world without, that most would take a sort of personal accountability in the distribution of their sensitive information and wear some kind of "internet condom", ya know?
Anyway, this post is too long. I understand the point you're trying to make, but I also truly believe that people have an active role in keeping themselves secure. One that they often delegate elsewhere and remain apathetic about until it's too late. Then they turn it into someone else's fault.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me -- even if it was to use me as an example. ;) I hope you have an awesome day. Thank you for all your work you do here.

Accepting, rejecting, or removing a friend is not dangerous or an issue at all in and of itself. What's dangerous is thoughtlessly clicking on external links posted by your would-be "friend".

@ixlone - Which I already admitted earlier (twice with my last post) I didn't bother reading that far. Your response feels more concerned with "being right" than anything else by how your response immediately attempts to find something you can "argue" as correct. Furthermore, learning it today through this post doesn't invalidate what I said about missing the announcement of it, since it was something released almost a year ago. It simply means I learned of it today. Especially since this post wouldn't have prevented being affected. It's a nice feature and I'm happy it's available to those it really benefits. For me, it doesn't mean it's use should make it so people forgo other precautions, though.
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying get at. Regardless, even missing it isn't any sort of mistake if I haven't been affected by anything. If anything it just further validates what I've already said about being diligent and cautious. Primarily because it's not a feature I necessarily need to begin with.
And I'm not trying to have a go at you, but you seem to get a bit defensive way too easily. I can see you saying that's not the case, but reading your response without knowing you doesn't exactly give off a positive perception.
Hope you're having a fun weekend and enjoying some rest! Thanks, again.
