Honestly I had an extremely bad impression of Karina and Aurora parents, but this chapter, assuming that part of the narration is truthful, worsened it still more.
They did prevent Karina and Aurora healthy growth, by putting the first under heavy pressure and basically no encouragement or praise, and the other into a glass bubble with no pressure and no expectations. Alas they did enable Aurora's behavior when she could not have known the emotional burden on her sister. Continuously.
Also the look on her parents, and especially her mother, when she say she is happy she didn't have to marry Orlando is...frightening. Like I wouldn't be surprised now if she was the reason Aurora was sick in the first place.
Skipping the last point, we don't have enough element to see if their parents were incompetent or malicious, it's the hard truth they failed HARD.
Remember neglect IS a form of abuse, a particularly insidious one. And it's under everyone eyes that Karina was neglect, and, even if less visiblly, Aurora was neglected too.
Considering that Aurora was a literal child when she tried to "get karina's stuff", I don't fault her (granted we should see if her reflection is genuine) for it. At the same time I do understand Karina for viewing Aurora actions maliciously becouse of that (distorted by subsequent and longstanding trauma and neglect). The only thing I do fault to Aurora is that she didn't try to contact her sister at all. Granted they both were probably under strict surveillance by the crown prince cronies and the crown, so it would be certainly hard, but damn, they aren't a modern surveillance state, you could probably find a way to communicate trought letters and even contacts once on a while.
Also I have to say, I'm convinced there is some deeper scheme at play. Unless Karina was literally murdering (or odering the execution) of people for nothing, or acting like Caligula or Neron in their worst accounts, I doubt a damnation memorie would be jutsified. The most evil person of the kingdom they call her... yeah surely more evil then a fake priest that trapped and groomed a young girl into a rape-human trafficking scheme? (I wonder if he ever will return to the story, it would be a good starting point to link a deeper mystery) What happened to karina seems a cover up: what if karina, either by Orlando's carelessness or by other factors, discovered a secret of the royals? This would have a bigger reason to cancel her from history and ordering her elimination. Or maybe tis was the result of a power struggle, but this wouldn't explain the look of disgust on the king face when Eve was telling him her project. Unless the King is a literal idiot and believed himself an exaggerated story recounted by his son, that maliciously manipulated him in sending her into exile, deleting her from the kingdom record and accepting sending of assassins. But at this point I need to see a regime change on this nation, becouse they are clearly a menace of people wellbeing.
Evie Dear. I don't think removing your hat in this way is a good choice. If you wanted to let Aurora know, you could have just raised it a bit to just make her see your ears.
