Maybe the play we quite literally just watched play out?

So the mom body-swapped with someone else? A commoner? The heroine's mom?
HOLY SHIT I THINK I GET IT. ANNA'S MOM IS ACTUALLY GRACE'S MOM FROM THE FAIRY BODYSWAP MAGIC AND THE PERSON WE SEE IN THE CARRIAGE IS ANNA'S MOM. (person in carriage is grace's mom, but due to fairy magic, i think its anna's mom's mind in grace's mom's body) or something like that

But GM is daughter of duke, GD is originally a low ranking rural noble (now duke since marrying into his wife's title). And Anna is a commoner. So if AM were GD's sibling then she would have been low ranking nobility, rather than a commoner.
anna's mom is most likely not a commoner.. or even a low ranking noble. three points of evidence for this. 1.) in chapter 21 Anna's mom talks in great detail about the "manners of a noble" and doesn't flinch in the presence of being in front of Grace even though she is the duke's daughter. 2.) when confronted on this information by grace her poker face is utter trash alluding to her being "very" well versed in nobility. 3.) when Grace's father sees Anna's mom she performs a perfect curtsie as is expected of high society but furthermore quietly "shushes" him when he sees her.

My thoughts are this Jacquline and Anna's Mom have "switched places" like in the play for specific reasons. Jacquline never mentions whom she wants to see specifically we are assuming it's grace but what if she meant anna?

Okay, so having laid out the pieces, here's a theory.
  • GM is unhappy with the way Grace turned out.
  • Then fairy appears and offers to fix it according to the script that GM wrote thirty years ago.
  • As part of that, the fairy arranges the SC (Student Council) so that it fits the script written 30 years ago.
  • So GM thinks that Grace will be swapped with some commoner (Anna).
  • But unbeknowst to her, the fairy sticks the real Grace in some mental sleep/cage, and sticks Kenzuburo into Grace.
  • GM then has to stay away from both "Anna" and "Grace" because meeting either one would break the spell. (Of course, if she actually met then, then she would realize that neither one is her real daughter.)
  • When GM raves about how well Grace is doing, she's actually talking about Anna, who GM thinks is Grace. (GM is glad to see that "Grace" has grown out of her aristocratic arrogance.)
  • As for her suggested fix for GK's noble speech, she might have done that at the suggestion of the fairy. (Note that this tweak to the play was made just before the play, not 30 years ago.)
Theory about past
  • There's still the GM/GD/AM triangle. I.e. GD was clearly close to AM.
  • There might not be anything to that... They just happened to know each other in the past.
  • OR... Perhaps there was a swap back there as well, with GM and AM swapping.
  • They might have swapped back. (GM and AM might simply know each other from that time.)
  • OR... They stayed swapped, with GM and AM being happy in their swapped roles.
  • And maybe as part of that, GM was stuck with "noble speak/action" spell, which made her speak/act like a noble. Which might have caused her to raise Grace to strict aristocratic standards. And which might explain why she thought that "Grace" would need the script tweak, knowing that "Grace" (who she thinks is Anna) has the same noble speech/action spell on her.
She gave the letter to Grace and not Anna. That’s why I personally rejected this theory. I did consider it first but it doesn’t really work.

I think instead she made a deal with the fairy to make sure her daughter doesn’t die a horrible end. But she doesn’t really understand how it works or there’s no reason for her to be proud of a random stranger.
