I can't say that in Keun's shoes I wouldn't do the same. If Keun played along and let Hexenhaus do this to her body, he'd never forgive himself.

Even if Erica herself was fine with her body being donated, this is less about the harm to her and more about upholding basic human dignity. Not just that of the victim, but also that of Keun's own. To eat a human being and be okay with it would diminish him as a person. So he cannot do it, even if it means risking death.

People who treat corpses with disrespect because they aren't "human" anymore are crazy.

How we treat our dead is directly related to our empathy, I know there are outliers of many types, situations that simply can't be avoided... but this isn't one of them.

These fucks are breaching a basic tenet of empathy and using their sick "logic" to justify... no, worse... they are acting like what they do is empathy itself.

Keun made a mistake here... but it was motivated by the most basic of human emotions, this is proof of his humanity.

yup, this [care and empathy for dead members of a family] behaviour is so old, that it is can be observed in our closest cousins in evolutionary tree - chimps, so it was present for humans long before humans became modern humans.

I think Keun ends up hiding Erika's body under false name so it won't be cremated. Then in present day Nova will tell Gally that he needs some cells from original body to heal Erikas brainwashing and so Gally needs to find the body Keun hide all those years ago.

Past few chapters are going balls-deep in that transhumanism part of Gunm. It's pretty great

nah, it's just a long ass flashback (also original story and last order were also kinda like this, with every side character having far more interesting story than Alita xD )

EDIT: I would even say gunnmu is more of a story of humanity's struggle in a weird future than story of Gally/Alita/Yoko
