I'm excited by the idea of hybrid animals. It took so long just to get around to Legosi's minor traits and family. Also that in this world animals seem to have remained very traditional to their species, which s is surprising considering that it's not only is is hard to find the love of your life but also restricting yourself to the same family of animal at minimum.
I hope most hybrid animals to this degree are sane though, there is worrying implications even in complete fiction of 'hybrids' always being some psycho unstable creature...

Legosi’s only 1/4 lizard. He’s mostly wolf, but he is immune to komodo venom so he’s still mixed

Legosi is only 1/4 Komodo so it's likely diluted enough to not show outside. His mom was probably the one who did have visible Komodo Dragon traits which likely led to next level discrimination considering everyone and their mom here gets hated upon no matter what. It wouldn't be surprising if that is why she killed herself. Living in this world as a mixed inter-species freak with contradicting traits both inside and outside and getting double the discrimination for being born was too much for her.

This manga is so fucking good, it's so rare that I'm consistently pleasantly surprised by what's just happened.

And then we have official author answer about how herbivore-carnivore hybrids work in this world and a possible explanation about the law that was mentioned long ago.
A short but robust chapter.

@thegentelman He is just a hybrid for the manga. Hybrids do exist, but more often than not, it is impossible for them to be viable(ie, capable of reproducing). An example is a mule, which is a hybrid between a donkey and a horse. They exist, but they are incapable of being a species because it is sterile. For a hybrid animal to exist, they have to remain common enough for the egg and sperm to merge. In the case of a leopard and an antelope? Oh hell no, that kind of hybridization is more than just impossible in real life because they are nowhere near what is needed for a possible hybrid to exist. Could we brute force it with science? Possibly, but damn is it still unlikely.
