Interestingly, given how the last few chapters have had a focus on inter-species relationships, it feels like 'love failure' may refer to all hybrids. This arc could turn out to be a lot bigger than just Meron running messing shit up.

ok... so is this a furry Joker? cause this feels a bit like a furry Joker.

I mean he's a bizarre and fascinating foil to our Not-batman. The herbivore that eats carnivores (one step removed from that anyway) versus the herbivore/carnivore hybrid. Though if they compete in "who has the biggest chip on their shoulder" then I think they might break even.
