In an alternate universe, Miyuki tells all these asshats to stuff it, then shoves her tongue into Sorata's mouth until she finds his reset button. It's probably the kind of button that is really small and requires holding for 30 seconds. You know, like a router.

It's a romcom that's spinning its wheels to prolong shit, nothing new here, not sure why people are losing their shit this much. Hell, I can remember the days when having ANY plot progression happen was cause for celebration. Maybe we've gotten spoiled, or maybe this is a good enough manga that we expected better, but this isn't even that bad. Who knows, maybe the author even has some larger payout that the padding will have been necessary for. Probably won't, but worth at least giving the benefit of the doubt until it's resolved.

Ya but its better gay than boyxboy and I really don’t know why but maybe it’s because I’m a guy and whenever I see BL I always see myself in one of the people and it just feels weird

"It's better" isn't beating the homophobe allegations, but one day you'll learn that other people exist outside yourself and that you feeling weird about their existence isn't grounds to demand they not.

We also had two interruptions in the same chapter. Miyuki's mom came in right when they were about to talk, telling them to go to bed--and Miyuki, who had no problems telling her family off before, simply ran away from Sorata.
But then, when they decide to split up to cover more ground for another "let's tour Kyoto" chapter, Merry unilaterally decides Miyuki will go with her.

We could have had their big moment to at least begin the conversation that's needed to happen for more than a volume now against the backdrop of her home city, and it would have even been relevant as Ayano was telling Sorata to convince Miyuki to come back to this very place.

But instead, we get nothing whatsoever. No actual velocity to the plot, no internal dialogue to show where the characters are sitting in their feelings on what's going on.

This might be "better" than historical precedent for romcom manga, but judging it that way is just giving the author a free pass to not be critical about the merits of their own work. Just because it's 'less bad' than something else, doesn't mean it's good or acceptable.

I laughed at that comment comparing this to the romcom of the era of Nisekoi. (No offense, seriously)

I only read Nisekoi when it was finished because a friend recommended it to me. I think those romcoms at that era are more tolerable because the consumer get weekly release of that series.

But this series release monthly. So yeah. That's why this one is frustrating sometimes.

i'm actually going to crash out how much longer is it even possible to have these unreasonably idiotic interjections any time a single drop of progress would be made

Most of the the Kyoto arc (and most of the Manga by some extension) have been boring.
The interesting thing this manga started with was the FMC and her dialect gimmick.
Then the side charcters came into the picture, I thought their backgrounds will be expanded on or something, but whoops.

Despite all that, I think this chapter was the best chapter in Kyoto arc. (Only because Omi-Omi looked happy)

You are showing very clear and blaring signs of internalized homophobia.

Or to put it in simpler terms for you:
You are likely gay yourself, and are deeply ashamed of it.

Is Hitsujino stupid? How are you supposed to enjoy yourself when you have this misunderstanding looming over you (a misunderstanding that is fixable in one 5 minute conversation) Why is the author doing this.

Thank you much for giving us the gift of this TL, despite the fact the author keeps yanking our chain. Surprised it didn't have a note at the end saying "This chapter officially approved [paid for] by the Kyoto Tourism Board". 😏

I just hope this isn't going to become a trend, of authors thinking that the Okinawa manga is popular because of (vs "in spite of") getting crammed full of chamber-of-commerce fluffery…

If you could skip a chapter and not miss anything, and not be particularly entertained either, you're probably right to dislike that chapter.
And it's not particularly endearing for folks to respond with "Hurhur, I'm so superior to these noobs who say they dislike this chapter". 🙃
