Kana’s tough love toward her brother might have been warranted after he failed his first entrance exam, but it’s still kind of rich coming from her. Just days before his exam, she didn’t try to stop Momo from dragging him away to help with a music video when he should’ve stayed home studying.

She gave him proactive solutions, rather than just platitudes or commiseration. I think that's more valuable for someone prone to fall into a hell of excessive self-consciousness.

Well because of this dumbass plotpoint, they might actually think he's just a weird dude Yamada rejected. Hiding it from her friends makes it even more stupid when they could be allies of the couple and making space for them to be together discreetly, by setting up group outings and leaving them together at every opportunity.

But well, we have this instead. DISRESPECT! THE BAD KIND OF DRAMA!
Is that still a thing? I completely forgot about that. I assumed everyone knew. I mean, I guess they were kinda becoming friends before, but maybe they're confused if he should join because the girl that rejected him is involved? Same outcome, different reasoning?

"He has always been a loner" before, though.
He basically got rocket-powered introduced to this friend group a long time ago

The whole point is that he still perceives himself as loner because he still spends little time with them and rarely talks to them and other classmates, and even when he does, it is almost always not on his own initiative. As a result, he does not perceive himself as part of the group, and they may not perceive him as a permanent part of it for this reason.

The essence of my initial comment was that he has always behaved this way and that it is primarily his own choice, which has affected how others perceive him. I won't say that this is unfounded; his introverted nature, combined with the trauma of failing his junior high school exam three years ago, has had an impact here, but it's not all because of that public rejection, as the OP claims

They have to keep it secret!!

Cause if it gets out that Yamada has a BF, her greasy otaku fans are gonna be sad!! :meguuusad:

You don't want those precious darlings to be sad do you?

The study material Kana gave him will be useful for his first-choice school exam. That's for sure. Her remark about him not to let his guard down would have felt more appropriate if the whole music video situation with Momo hadn’t happened. That's why I said it's rich coming from her, because the moment Kana watched Momo dragging him away from home, it more or less became inevitable that he would let his guard down about the exam.

It's kind of insane how in Japan every high school has their own set of exam tests. So kids are forced to take three or four separate exams for each of the schools they are trying to get into instead of just having a standardized one.

Also how the hell does that work? Do they test all subjects in one single examination. It seems unlikely that they'd have one test per subject as is the norm elsewhere, since that would require way too much time and utterly exhaust the kids.

He ran out into the street himself, and after she hung up the phone, realizing that she wouldn't come out (she did not even know he was there at that moment), he still decided to wait. Also, don't ignore the fact that Kana tried to bring his temperature down and even thought about staying, but Kyotaro insisted that she take time off.

It's also just ridiculous. Even BEFORE the argument, he had problems with his test scores (at the beginning of volume 12 and in the middle of volume 13 after the preparation test). To pretend that if it weren't for this argument, which lasted TWO DAYS, it would have been resolved before the first exam and caused his failure (as if those two days would have completely changed the situation if there had been no fight) is absurd

This guy is always here and on Reddit, coming up with the most bizarre assumptions and interpretations in order to justify his anger at what is happening in this story. At first he said Yamada's mother was supposed to cheat on her husband, and when that didn't happen, he started saying that it was planned, but the editors forced her to refuse (his source of assumptions, of course: trust me, bro). Then he decided that Yamada would be forced to leave Kyotaro, meet with the actor with whom she would be filming a kissing scene (he is 33 years old), and other strange shit that resembles one of the plots of OshiNoKo. Just rationalization in the literal sense of the word
I totally not wrong about that ...

First she seduce kyo saying she was lonely ...

Then still going to the event despite her husband oppose about it ..and then flirting with that artist then leave her daughter alone in the event hall for going outside ..somehow ended up at her husband restaurant and never ever bother to justified her action about it

He hasn't taken the test for Syugakukan yet, his first choice school. The exam he failed here was for his backup.

Also I know he's gonna pass and do fine because that's the kind of strip this is but I'm still gonna be stressed about this for the next two weeks.
I thought he did make both exams already,

Surely even if he fails the other entrance exams his scores would still be high enough to get into Cromartie or Bass High.

Though just out of curiosity if a Japanese Middle Schooler failed all the entrance exams for the High schools they wanted to attend what happens? ..faculty picks a school for them?

Feels like the story still has meat to it in adressing the issues of dealing being in a romantic relationship with a rising celebrity.

Don't see author really being able to address those issues within 12 to 15 chapters.
