The conversation between Remu and Meguru being āreal sistersāā¦ does this mean they actually are not blood-related sisters? Thatās what I understood in this chapter, especially with Remu saying that her previous Mama didnāt accept her.
I cannot recall if there was any mention or implication of them being step sisters(?) in previous chapters. I might need to do a reread when the series wraps up.
Yeah, they were not sisters when Azuki knew Meguru, despite that Remu would have already been a living, doll sucking young girl. Meguru moved due to the marriage, which is why she disappeared suddenly. At one point she tells herself she has a sister now as a way to reassure herself that's she's moved on from the past, which tells us the sisterly relationship is valued by her, but we also can see from their interactions that they're on friendly terms but not incredibly close.
This series was great about subtext and small details in the background art or in the dialogue, so you can notice more on each reread. It's a shame it's getting cut short, especially right when all the pieces were starting to come together.
