rescue squad is quite infamous huh. And yet people still look down on healing mages.
If one in a million healing mages (who are already relatively rare) is capable, would you say that they're capable because healing mages are capable, or would you say that because they're part of that specific squad of freakish monsters they are capable, regardless of being a healing mage? Generally, the latter, not the former. Sure, being a healing mage that can internalize their own magic is part of what makes Usato monstrous... but the rest of the Rescue Squad can't do that (It was a big thing that only the Captain and Usato can do it), and they're still all freaks, too.

Just as much of a potion junkie as someone else is a healing junkie. No names.

Yeah, just some girl.

This dense mofo.

"Same old, same old."
They've been around the block.

She looks so short next to the tall knight Sir Leo.

I like the maid waving them off.

She's building up him to be such a monster, and all MC can think of is the Captain. But not quite as bad.

That cave gives me a distinct AI-generated or cut-n-paste vibe.

The way she's describing the water is like describing Mr. Axe Guy.

There's dense materials like osmium, then we have neutron stars, and then we have Usato ...
Then we have Ichika from Infinite Stratos.
Standard MC.

I also don't understand why they have to specifically state the condition of the water in the spring...
Exposition. It's going to be important later on.

So we have a guy who went crazy and became super powerful, and springs which if you drink from them, make you go crazy and super powerful. Surely, these two things aren't connected.
Can't be. Too convenient.

It's because it's the premise. MC is supposed to be of the WEAKEST class and all that.

Makes sense though, there's really only ever been one outlier to them before Usato. It's also only seemingly infamous among those in power when it concerns other nations. My memory's also a bit foggy on which, if any, nations have been actively fighting the demons in wars besides Lyngle; so that too could attribute to the awareness.
well our lady here is THE monarch, and clearly knows about the squad, and it seems they're known as the whole squad being weird, so... while no other nation has been fighting the demons, it's obvious the squad is well known

usually 1 in a million musicians get to be known for their songs (I'm ofc exaggerating), most making subpar garbage, but we don't look down on musicians as useless, we evaluate them on their skills. Not to mention all the good artists we just don't ever learn about. Would be weird if we dismissed all music just because most people are bad at it, we just praise those who are good at it.

You're right, that is the setting, doesn't mean I can't make fun of it :meguusmug:

Actually, on the whole, musicians ARE looked down upon, with the sole exceptions being those one-in-a-million chosen ones who ended up making it big, and even they can get a ton of hate still; just look at how hated Nickelback are. It's also usually not the musical talent that makes people not look down on them, but something else, often the power from fame and the money they get from being picked up by a big name label; compare and contrast Usato's being picked up by the Rescue Squad and then trained according to the Captain's strict regimen being why he's able to do anything in this world otherwise, because healing magic can only heal, otherwise. Most people dismiss the efforts of musicians even if they appreciate music, just like how most people appreciate healing magic, but dismiss the efforts of the healing mages, combatively.

Well, there are cultures in real life which don't consider music & songs as good, and only accept it if it's related to religious stuff.

Like I heard about how a man was a great singer in a country and was earning millions and quite popular as well. And he feel in love with a girl (think the girl was an old friend or something) and wanted to marry her. But that girl's father denied the marriage as he considered singing and music as unethical and corrupting, and there are many who have the save view in that culture.

What I meant to say with this case is that, even if someone is good at their profession that they are popular among many people, there are also many who hate them just for the work they do. It doesn't matter to them whether they are exceptional or not in the work they do, as those people look down on the profession itself.

Infamous isn't the same as revered or admired though. And the Rescue Squad is supposed to be the first of its kind, iirc. It'll take awhile for the rep of healing mages in general to change, and that's assuming they take Rescue Squad training to become stronger than people believe a healing mage can become.

Was obvious that "he" was a dragon, but I don't know how, but I knew he would be very closely related to the dead one. Something like "the real body" of it, and I was fairly on the mark. Usato's reaction likely wasn't because he was shocked "he" was a dragon, but because he recognized that exact same appearance.

Maybe standard nowadays, but you can't dismiss his denseness just like that since he was one of the first.
Not dismissing, but "one of the first"? That's like 2010 or something. IS is very derivative in its character design. Pretty sure there were dense protagonists long before that.
