I dunno, I think it works better this way. It's not a real fight, it's an execution. If the humans ever had a chance of winning, then the guilt of killing them would be lessened. If Jil had been in real danger, then the taboo is lessened. As it is, he didn't kill them, he murdered them.

In the wn the mental torture he endured while killing these brave soldiers was showcased much better imo.

If it is all about feeling guilt would killing the demons even count as a taboo? Killing humans, sure. Maybe stuff involving his demon mum but the rest of them he probably does not feel guilty killing.

He has developed feelings for some of these demons though.
