Now that I'd made the comparison though, over all this manga is a lot more like the sequel Shiny Days in terms of being focused primarily on being indulgent smut instead of also being an earnest attempt at a drama like School Days; though still with occasional clumsy attempts to be more serious at times.

I had actually forgotten that Makoto finger banged Kuroda while the pair of them secretly watched the other two do it during that scene.
It's all coming back to me now, man that shit was crazy, I remember actually being super invested in VN when I first started playing after watching the infamous TV adaption, but as I finished route after route I became increasingly more disgusted by the characters; particularly the MC (not unlike how the readers here are feeling about Gotou).
Also, I can't believe School Days turns 20 this month, just goes to show you that there's nothing new under the sun in terms of this sort of subject matter.

This author has no idea what he's doing. The characters just feel like empty shells that constantly change to fit whatever fetish he’s into at the moment. The mc turned into a complete jerk just so stuff like this could be justified. The audience liked the childhood friend, so now he's gonna ruin her too. And when people start complaining again, he just throws in a new character and repeats the cycle. Agawa just vanished from the story, they added the teacher and that other girl too, but they also showed up and disappeared just as fast
