People misuse the terms "pedophile" and "groomer", Ignore the reality that 16-18 y/o can look like young adults, which is the reason why you get asked for your ID unless your hairs already grey where I live and that there would be a clear dissonance if these guys could get themselves killed but at the same time couldn't have sex.

The hangup over that magical number "18" that apparently instantly makes people reasonable and emotionally stable etc. pp. is a purely American thing. It's an arbitrary cutoff age for legal purposes alone. Biological arguments would put it lower and mental arguments would put it higher and neither is set in stone for any single human being.

Before I forget it again: Stop it with citing laws and whatnot from real countries. There are about as many different interpretations about this as there are countries in the world.

No-one is citing laws here as the reason. They look like they are in their twenties, they live like they're in their twenties and they certainly fuck like they're in their twenties. They are adults, nobody knows exactly how old they are, and everyone is happy.

And then the author for absolutely no reason decides to just drop that "BTW they are what most of the world considers underage " in typical Japanese fashion when it comes to the age of characters.

It does nothing but fucks with the world-building and causes stupid internet drama. Drama where one sides points out that Japanese manga is being weird about character ages again, and the other is whining about supposed puritans and posting weird shit about the legality of the age of consent.

I wonder where the hell all you people come from where a 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old is unusual.

When I was 18, I had a 16 year old girlfriend. I also had my own apartment. And a waterbed. For the duration of that (unfortunately) brief relationship, I swear I spent more time naked than clothed. And I was far from unusual in this respect. In fact, I was a giant dork and usually had bad luck with women. I smelled like french fries all the time. Other guys got way more action than I did at that age.

And all this was smack dab in the middle of the bible belt, back when the satanic panic was still going on.

Your mid to late teens is the prime time for fuckin'. Few responsibilities, no kids, disposable job - you've got no money but you have friends and a car and a girl that smiles at you and somehow doesn't realize that you're a huge moron. Your hormones are raging, your bodies are like wonderful mysterious toys, and every time you're alone with her it's like Christmas morning. You're convinced you're in love despite what your older relatives tell you (they're right, but you won't realize that for a while)

And that's what makes me call bullshit on the official ages in this comic. They don't act like people in their late teens (or a centinarian, for that matter) - they act like people in the mid to late 20s.
