I've got a feeling that Van is the gonna be the Demon lord when he gets mad cause the Hero's hurt Ryuka, then that mana beast thing will use him as a vessel to create the next demon lord. Then Ryuka will have to rally the cast to help her reach demon lord Van so she can 'use the power of love' to bring him back to his senses, then the series will end and maybe we'll be lucky to get some epilogue chapters.

Even though the next demon lord was apparently prophesized to be a black dragon?

I was thinking either this, or perhaps Van, not being a part of the cycle, but a random person who trained themselves to the limit, would allow him to break the cycle of Demon Lords and Heros.

Part of their plan better be making sure that Van doesn't find out they're stalling him so a strike team can assassinate Ryuka, he may actually kill them if he finds out or at least maim them.
