Last chap i had pegged Mamari as a THOT, but we might just have a redemption on our hands, and the condemnation of a holier-than-thou pretentious old fart.

Somebody trip this old man down a deep deep pit. Why bother doing your job if you withhold your services from the people who actually need it?!

Ah yes prejudice. Old dude seems to be more of the researcher and administrator type rather than the philantropic kind of doctor.

Yep Old dude couldn’t be setting off more “Im the bad guy alarms” unless he was holding a sign. While I get you can’t help everyone for free he could of asked his assistant and helped from behind the scenes.
@HDMI1 exactly what I thought when they all said how they felt.

:/ Weird turnabout for Mamari just cos Carol doesn't judge her for being an orphan...legit she was just shitting on Carol calling them equal in education (if not claiming Carol was actually less skilled than herself) and now she's begging Carol for help??? What?

Old man was obv sus from the beginning but Mamari just did a 180...she was acting all smug like "lolol I tampered with your tea somehow and my master scolded you, also you are lesser than me because you can't tell me anything I don't already know" and now she's just "uwu im sad orphan my master does not help orphans, wow i get bath first?? ur so nice,, can u help me save my orphanage??"

Carol is far too nice, because at this point I would've taken the opportunity to just tell her to go herself if she thinks she's so superior, why does Carol have to go to the trouble just cos Mamari is worried about losing her apprenticeship (?) to the old man.

The old man, good thing he shows his true color fast. Cause so much for being a ' wise old man' act, he do annoying things in this chapter and i just like "why the other can't seem to notice it too? " smh, thank u for the update!

@iskaeil It's more accurate to say that Mamari was distressed when she found out the Orphanage Director was sick, and she was worried and frustrated because she knew her master wouldn't let her do anything about it. So when Carol showed her some consideration, she asked Carol for the favor of her assistance. As for why she thought Carol would do this favor for her, do recall the part where Carol already tried to once but the old mage prevented her.

and ofc the director of healing is probably the evil mastermind behind it all... guess he's been poisoning them all along the way or something and rip that guy he's making a potion for.

If that bitch has nothing to do with the Pit Viper I'll be honestly impressed by this. That being said this chapter did make it look like the Director might be doing it on his own and perharps she didn't even know what she was doing while helping him.

... SCREW YOU, DOC! You swore the Hippocratic oath, "Do no harm." Yet you willingly do harm by ignoring people. Some doc you are.

As for Mamari, she has a history. If she loves the orphanage director like a daughter to father and it was the doc that made Pit Viper and Mamari is just a poor sap accomplice, then the director needs to be looked at.

@kavinh

If they follow the pattern of "Problem, reaction, solution" then the old man would want to keep it up.

You hand out the poison, they start dying, then you hand out the antidote, for a price, is a classic tactic taken by madmen.
