retzikun It's not that cliches can't be good, it's that this particular storyline wasn't good because instead of executing the cliche with any sort of ability (something the mangaka has shown before he can do such as with the slave) he simply relied on tropes that people are familiar with and used that as an excuse to just make the story move forward without any sort of writing surrounding it. There's a gentleman in the actual chapter discussion that explains it very well where characters are acting in very dumb ways that don't make sense unless they're just being used to push the story forward instead of actually feeling natural.
When people, and usually myself, bring up cliches or tropes as a negative it's mostly that the writer didn't execute it well and just expected people's familiarity with those things to do all the heavy lifting for them instead of putting in the roadwork to make it an engaging read. Hell, the whole reason I liked every storyline in this manga up til this one was due to the mangaka doing a damn good job of tweaking or playing with normal isekai shit in a fun way.
It's just this specific storyline I had a problem with because it felt so...low effort? I hate the term lazy, but lazy.
