Haven't read the source material, but given what I have heard, I reckon this is when our lovely heroine realizes that something's amiss with the whole reincarnation business.

This differs quite a bit from the source material. Vernel crushing his rivals was actually a wordless thing as he makes his approach to Elrise. Basically what happened is that a few prospective men start walking towards Elrise to propose a dance and the moment they do so, they are dog piled by other men who then drag them back into the dark corners. Vernel however, skillfully dodges them and reaches her in perfect condition. The funny thing is that the source material makes the scene out like they are all covertly doing this (Elrise can still see it given her crazy specs), not wanting to look bad in front of the Saint.

Also the WN illustration for Elrise lazing around I find much more funny.
