In the end they noticed, who knows if they killed Lerunda's parents and sister.
In some ways those parents would deserve it since they almost killed her.
the side plot was about one of the church people going off by themselves to find the rightful saint after their superiors refused to believe their suspicions that Lerunda's sister wasn't the real saint.
@kazamakj to be fair to the priests that came to get the Miko originally, the parents hid Lerunda under the bed then dumped her in the woods before they came back. They were told, "Miko here" and only ever saw the other daughter.
Really hoping that this new character is a new friend and the hinted greedy folks are someone else. It would be nice to have a good human besides Lerunda.
that was not for a while, this is likely the sister's tutor who got banished first (because she wanted the sister to actually study and learn lessons like proper etiquette), next is a princess, then they imprison the priest, and only send him out when the mother takes ill (the miko's loved ones do not get ill and the mother was terminally ill before they were born, it comes back )
They have not killed the parents or sister. Sister is a spoiled brat, but "innocent" and not malicious. The parents
are another matter, but do die in the WN due to their own errors, but not for a while
@ALL-SEEING : There is a reason they do not trust humans, but yes if they knew about her every nation would be trying to get her.
@kazamakj : They do, it was just not avaliable at that point. (it is how they knew where she was in the first place). Plus ya know observing the village was an option. My guess is they got all the info they needed if they did the job properly, but did not. The issue is not that the priest could not confirm, it is that he did not bother to do his job right. The priest was beyond incompetent and took everyone at their word to get the job done as fast as possible, not even realizing that he needed to make sure that they did not mislead him or leave anything out.
the person who could use the prefered method died before she was born, and has not been replaced yet. The secondary incapacitated the users afterwards (put them in comas I think)
@icarushector : They knew the age and village, but did not bother to confirm they had a list of all the children who matched. The priests only did half their job, they should have taken their time to observe the village instead of rushing. Heck, before they went to the house they should have verified how any children matched the description, leaving anything to chance like the villagers not mentioning an outcast/shunned mother and/or child is beyond incompetent.
The bad thing is I would expect that there is likely a list of traits they were supposed to look for and confirm with a warning that this can cause some issues with villagers excluding the miko (probably with a story of how it backfired on some nation in the past), and they ignored it.
I mean based on what I got from skimming some WN chapters about how they treated the sister and anyone who had issues with her, they know drawing the Miko's ire could destroy the country. So they should know that they were on a very high stakes mission
Okay, now i really curious on what happened to her twin sister and parents. Cause the plot already told us that the power is so rare. I doubt the twin soster can fool the holy church or the empire or whatever it is that wants the saint power. Hope they got a bitch slap from ~karma~
@sjmcc13 Thanks for the spoiler, I wanted to know what was happening to them since it will take quite a while before they can show what is happening in the novel, the manga is going quite slow for now but I guess it will soon increase the speed at the plot level.
