It certainly doesn't help when this manga adaptation not only updates at a glacial pace, but even had a long hiatus

I thought the writing was on purpose, and the reason why Lerunda was having a hard time picking up magic was because she had a sucky teacher

I honestly have doubts if the manga version will even reach that later arcs of the novel.

At least not with this slow pace, they would have to skip a hell lot of chaps to get to the pay off 200+ chaps later in the novels.

But that would make it so a lot of the context is missed.

If they legit plan to do the novel story, we ain't seeing the meeting of the sisters until years later in the manga.

I had expected Lan to be Lerunda's human writing and magic teacher, but I guess she might not be able to teach magic after all. In fact, I don't remember seeing Lan use any magic. She may just be an ordinary researcher, and knowledge is her best and maybe only asset. It's been Freinet who's taking charge of teaching her magic, but I'm not so sure she's a good teacher.
