Can someone please remind me why the gods were mad at humans in the first place? Was it his fiancee getting murdered over a misunderstanding?
Hades couldn't fully stop a disaster (I think it might've been the Day of Self-Admonition but I don't recall) and the shitty townspeople blamed him and drove him out. Fastforward to them being shitty old people who killed his waifu because they assumed he was coming for their heads any day now. Nice self-fulfilling prophecy, bozos.

Thanks for the chapter, Kredim.

This. True's grandstanding is 100% lie--at least fight a powerful earth-elemental above ground.

At the same time, the idea's been intensifying for a few chapters, heretofore--and now it's sharpened as soon as I read the first page: I'm gonna end up hating the protagonists, aren't I?
IIRC last chapter True implied his ultimate goal is beat Shock himself, him being a "Dragon Knight" probably the more classic "empowered by a dragon" knight so wouldnt surprise me if he is capable of holding his own against a god alone

He was empowered by Shock? My interest deepens: I don't remember this, only that they're partners--and that I wanted to read more about them.

Anyway, if we look at it that way, Shock is still his ultimate goal--an unsurpassed goal. Holding his own is one thing--being so empowered, surely he could do it--but that's where it stops: Hades has an enormous tactical advantage--there's no way for True to take the high ground, there.

There's something else that caught my mind for a while, now: the name of Hades' subordinate, Kimujina. Sounds like a mix of two words:

木 - き - ki - "tree, shrub, bush"

狢 - むじな - mu ji na - "badger" or "raccoon dog"

Another word is commonly used for "badger" instead of mujina, and tanuki is the word used for "raccoon dog" (either the animal or the yokai), so mujina is commonly used to refer to the shapeshifting badger yokai. An arboreal mujina.

What Horaigon is is still beyond me, though. (I have an idea, but I'm short on time.) I'm also wondering if I should know who Chikaeru is, on top of that.

He is not currently empowered by Shock, he wants to beat Shock to become empowered by that act, is what he's saying. The different kinds of Dragon Knight- those who befriend dragons, and those who consume dragons.

The asshole villagers kicked the god out of the village, so the god went to live out in the woods

The villagers who are assholes assumed that the god held resentment towards them for kicking him out, and once they found out that the elf girl was visiting the god, they plotted to assassinate her thinking that she was helping the god tale revenge on the village for kicking him out

But the god had moved on and didn't gave a fuck about the asshole villagers, they killed his partner over their paranoia, and now they all must die

Largely just my theory but im betting its not a coincidence that the only dragon knight weve seen is paired with a salamantra named

Theres also the tree yokai called kijimuna

Right. Were it to be so, I'd be fully on Shock's side, then.

Her outfit is one of those snails with the eye parasites.

Nightmare fuel. Reminds me of that one guy in Kyochuu Rettou who was so parasitized. Probably only possible with simpler molluscan anatomies, but still...

The cleverness of this author continues to impress.

Regarding Horaigon, my aforementioned idea was this: his name comes from "dragon" and the Japanese word for the olm, a cave-dwelling aquatic salamander.

The Japanese word for it is:

洞井守 - ほら・い・もり - hora i mori

If you look up an olm, you'll find Horaigon looks a fair bit like one.

based on their conversation, maybe it's finally Maidena's time to shine (and realizing she's starting to fall in love with Kikuru) 😬
