@bigtiddyoneesan Delays are good for the final result of the game, but they're awful for the people actually working on the game (anyone not management). This is the 3rd or 4th delay after making bunches of promises about no crunch and no delay. Planned features being cut is pretty typical in development. I think folks should be more concerned about the total radio silence they've had towards performance on current gen consoles. That coupled with the day 0-1 patch failing the cert and it looks like it's gonna be a rough experience on a current gen console.

I've never bought a CDPR game. Got Witcher 1 and 2 for free and they're garbage euro-jank games.

Would you mind explaining this? I don't understand it.

I tried to play The Witcher 2 using some Xbone black magic (I can't play it anymore lol) and I couldn't get into it, my biggest complain were the controls.

@Richman CDPR announced they'd gone gold, meaning they were printing physical cds, and then announced today's delay. This means the actual game passed the console certifications, but the day 0 or day 1 patch they were working on to address all the bugs they want to squash failed the same certification. So now they need extra time to address everything in the patch that caused them to fail the console certs.

I suppose this is a compliment, considering western-jank games being fartnight and the such?

Personally, I enjoyed Witcher 1 and 2, maybe because I was into the books at some point.

@Halo Not a compliment at all. They're both pretty bad games. You just enjoy a couple bad games.

That's true, I'm sure delays are far more hectic behind the scenes. I think the track record of the developer in question is important to take into account as well. For instance, if Nintendo were to delay a game (like they did with ACNH), that would probably be my biggest case of "thank god they're giving this the time it needs to be release-worthy".

But other AAA developers release unfinished game after unfinished game to the point that it's almost become the norm to release unfinished products. And then they rely on patches to eventually fix things after everyone's money has been spent.

@Richman
I've played the Witcher 2 (got it for free as well), and I can't deny that it's kinda jank, especially when compared to its sequel. I still enjoyed it though. Only played it after 3 to see what it was like. 3 is outstanding.

CDPR has done this for all 3 Witcher games. A huge post release patch that completely changes (broken/frustrating) mechanics, adds (missing/requested) content, and fixes bugs. They pretty commonly release unfinished games.

You know, I've been scrolling through r/gamingcirclejerk these past months and everytime I see "Witcher 3 good" reminds me of that sub. I would have to play le witcherino 3 to see if it is actually the Game of All Timelines everyone says it is.

Yeah. It's not like fixing games post-release doesn't result in good games of course, I'd just find it preferable for the practice of "relying on patch fixes to create a full experience" to not be abused.

@Richman
Witcher 3 does get circlejerked a bit. I wasn't aware of the circlejerk when I played it the first time though, but I still thought it was easily one of the best games I've ever played once I'd completed it.

@bigtiddyoneesan Sure, but it's more evidence that delays at CDPR just mean more crunch for the employees. Their PM is awful at their job.

I can already hear fans saying, "Don't you want these devs to keep their jobs?" when people start talking about boycotting CDPR or when its sales are low. It'll be important to keep in mind that CDPR always downsizes after they finish a game so these devs were gonna lose their jobs anyway. Even if the game sold like gangbusters.

to be fair the first Witcher game was ass the second wasn't anything special either the third one was phenomenal and that game is by far the best trade i've ever made (traded it for Destiny).

Why is it that every time I want to try and replay an RPG, I see it as a chore? I is it because I won't be able to experience it for the first time again? I tried it with Golden Sun, FF VI (Which I didn't even finish lmao), FF VII, Pokemon, Mario & Luigi. It's probably because they take too much time that I don't consider I have.
