But history of last quarter of century already shows that UN can't prevent, nor even punish, other countries that want to do it themselves.

Wouldn't the Empire's attack on Ginza which killed a lot of people, enslaved a few Japanese citizens (at least one of them ended up dying) and kickstarted the whole plot count? I remember on the first third of the manga that Japan considers the other world part of their territory (hence "Special Region") because the gate is located on their sovereign territory and uses that to deny access to other nations and justify the usage of the JSDF there (it's our territory, so we're not violating any treaties). A bit of a flimsy excuse, to be honest.

What China hate? It's no secret that China is waging cyber war against half the countries on the planet. This story actually pretty accurately depicting their aggressive imperialistic and expansionist foreign policies ( as well as their aggressive push into international waters).

It's interesting Japan boldly did monopolise the gate for so long, yet now Japan is suddenly all toothless and the prime minister did adapt a rather cowardly stance. Some random rioters with no supply lines could practically deny the armed forces the control of the surroundings of the gate. Just use tear gas. Any rioter sporting a gas mask can be shot by snipers. Anyone who has experienced tear gas knows it no joke and in reality not even Batman could just man up and tolerate it for long. It's merely unwillingness to do anything about it that's now the theme of the story. The author is proud of the JSDF, but he's mocking the Japanese politicians/highest brass far more than China or any other faction.

Author is right. In this age of globalization, nationalists are made to be seen as bad people, but it's just him thinking on the side of people. People working on field always get the worst.

As far as we know... Lelei can close it, she understands the mechanics behind it... but who opened it was a god, even if Lelei understands how to close it highly doubt she can create one... at least for now.

By how she was able to survive being possessed by a god, Lelei clearly has a lot of potential, and by studying modern knowledge of physics and other things she has been able to implement it in her magic to a certain extent.

But if you look at it... the portal literally has an aspect of materialized matter, there are a lot of things that simply don't fit together if we try to explain it entirely with common sense, so there must be some other magical aspects in play.

Some of the things I heard about the situation in the "South Sea" were not pretty, and historically speaking... the Chinese government can do worse still.
