I'll start off with a chapter from my first stories. (Note that it had some revisions)
It was a murky morning, Edgar was driving down the road to the lab to see the machine that Micheal had been working on for 12 years. The streets around him were foggy and wet, a event Rhode Island wasn't prepared for; Multiple parts of the area have been flooded or destroyed and it was impossible to manuver through. "Jesus christ! Look at this mess!" Said Edgar, He was shocked at how much the entire city has changed; All the buildings he drove by, all the local abandoned houses amplified the mood, it felt like something out of a thriller film. "This really did a number on the enitre state hasn't it?" He said.

Midnight Labs, Providence
Throughout the streets, Edgar would then arrive at his destination, the traffic jams along his way were a complete nightmare, almost to the point where it felt like it would end in only a week, So he took a small shortcut. by the way, it looked very out of place with the other buildings, however, no one seemed to really care. Edgar entered through the building doors, walking through the room hallways and looking at all the room doors untill he reached the room he was looking for. He would then hear the sound of loud machinery and banging; as it was near completion.
"Is it almost done yet?" Asked Edgar Cleveland
Micheal Fedrickson was continuously working away; working as hard as he can, even going as far to skip his lunch break. It would be all worth it in the end; because he has the indomitable human spirit to keep going. Sparks flew, the hammers clanging, and wrench turning.
"Almost, there are a few more pieces left, this thing's very sensitive so one wrong move will send us into somewhere very horrible." said Micheal Fedreickson, Edgar went to go get a cup of coffee from the cafeteria. However, the coffee machine was apparently broken. "God damnit, so much for budget cuts." said Edgar fustrated. It was horribly out of date and was nearing the end of it's life soon; one more button press and it's gone.
"This is astounding! Planetary transportation without a rocket." said Alice Rodriguez, she had been more excited than ever before.
"It's been a long time ever since we first started." said Oswald Peters "I've been proud ever since. Oswald smiles happily with joy.
"Alright, And we're done!"
Micheal had finally finished, his work was complete and he could finally show it to the world, sometime in the future of course. But it was unfortunately a private project; since no one could know about it, not even the other rooms down the hallway.
"Everyone, i present to you... Helios!"
The entire room went silent as they looked at the machine with awe, basking in it's eternal glory, basking with hard work well done. This project was worked on for a total 12 years. 12 years of success and failure, but mostly success for some reason. Because somehow they had a random string of luck out of nowhere. Maybe it was the work of the infamous Deus Ex Machina plot device, maybe not. Who knows? But for now they get to enjoy their beautiful masterpiece.
"Wow... It's so beautiful. we can already taste that innovation award by now."
Suddenly, Jason walks into the room with a stern look on his face. He looked at it with nervous disappointment, because he might think that the idea is unoriginal and blatant plagarism of a older sci fi concept.
"I wouldn't think so." Said Jason
"What the hell do you mean?" Edgar said. "By the time we show it to the public, other science labs will be frothing at the mouth!"
"People might think our invention is obsolete. Besides, there's a thing called warp drives y'know."
"Well Jason, this device can send us from planet to planet in an instant."
"Just like warp drives do when they're activated, you people need to be more original these days."
"Well, it can also send us to a parallel universe, and can change the very fabric of time."
"Well what if it goes wrong then, Huh? Would you still be right?"
Edgar thought about it at first, it would need some testing. Unfortunately they had already did some testing and it went better than expected. So why would they test it again? It was already perfect. And every nook and cranny on it was checked.
"Just stop arguing, okay? This was very hard and time consuming to make. We all needed hands here and couldn't work on this alone."
Meanwhile, the weather outside the lab continued to worsen, there was a homeless man sleeping on the curb with only a blanket and a mattress, he was looking at a portrait of his family with tears, then put it back into his pocket. Then the man's dog came up to him and licked him on the cheeks, the man would then smile and patted his dog. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck near them making a street lamp fall onto a car and triggering the alarm.
"Oh boy."
"This hurricane is just getting shittier and shittier by the minute, and even our own government can't even solve the problem."
Then it took a turn for the worst, as intense wind and rain also started to return.
March 14, 1977 7:49 am (GMT-4) 30 seconds before the Cosmic Static.
Micheal had inserted the antimatter and the coordinates, then started up the machine. What came was subtle warbling and beeping, but got more intense overtime. The room started to slowly shake and objects that were on desks fell to the floor, then everyone took a few steps back into the safe zone.
But, during the time that the machine was starting up, the lightning suddenly returned. as the wind outside was getting more and more intense by the second, there were a few trees that got uprooted but that was simply all. then it started to pick up steam again, some of them striking a few houses, and even a unlucky woman walking down the street. Another flash of lightning came down and struck a power plant 17 kilometers away from the lab. It caused a power surge to occur then a power outage. The power outage made it's way to the lab, Micheal and everyone else suddenly wondered why the power suddenly went out, along with the machine shutting down with it.
"Micheal... Something's wrong."
Alice noticed that the machine suddenly had a glitchy texture, it was illuminating menacingly in the darkness, she decided to whisper to Micheal about it.
"What? What is it?... Oh no."
Micheal saw the glitchy texture on the machine that Alice had noticed, it was flashing multiple times, before it disappeared bringing the room into darkness once more.
Then, the backup generators came on and brought the lab into brightness again, However, this only revealed the horror lying in the darkness.
The glitchy texture on the machine started to spread then the machine started to glitch along with the particle. It then started to cover the entire room. Lamps, coffee machines, printers, and even previous projects were all consumed by the glitchy mass along with them warping, distorting, changing shape, and becoming a source of glitchiness of their own.
"Micheal, what's happening!?"
"I don't know, this was never supposed to happen!"
"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!"
Then the sky outside started to change to random parts of the day, along with the weather being completely randomized. Cars suddenly floated off of the streets, with trees suddenly changing color, buildings starting to merge and contour. then people becoming the glitch itself. the sky then started to be sped up untill it was nothing but white void. The people looking at the sky were temporarily blinded. Inside the lab, the machine pulses a wave than paralyzes them in frozen animation, Like they were suddenly "paused". Then the entire state of Rhode Island started to glitch, with random alternate timelines blinking in and out of existence.
People nearby suddenly saw this strange event occur. it then became visible all over the entire world, as they are witnessing an anomaly unfold before their very eyes. The images and colors got more and more intense by the minute, with the epiliptic accidentally looking then getting a seizure. The light show would then continue untill there was a explosion, it covered the entirety of the upper East US, leveling buildings and uprooting trees, along with the hurricane above being blown away by the intense shockwave. The explosion also reached the City of Toronto, crawling further into Canada.
But what's left after the explosion however, is a glitchy unrecognizable mess filled with some glitches that are still lurking. Along with the area within 30 miles of the initial event, having slices of other timelines squished inbetween one another, surrounding the area.
Washington D.C. March 16, 1977 10:38 am, 2 days after the Disturbance
General Green was running down the hallway as fast as he can. His breath heavier than the last, until he made it to the door and burst into the room.
"Carter! President Carter!" (not a self insert but an actuall person, search it up.)
"What, What is it?"
"Here's the anomalies we found around the surrounding area."
