I'm not going to lie, this whole plot about Gard wanting to resurrect his sister feels like an afterthought by the author. Up until now, there was no indication that this was a driving motivation for him. I mean, Gard only joined the magic academy because he was banished from the count's territory he served, and by sheer coincidence, a pamphlet advertising the academy flew into his hands. Where was this sense of urgency or dedication to researching magic before he got kicked out and stumbled into the academy? It just seems out of nowhere.

Thanks for the chapter!
Possibly a decision by the editor of the author. Such changes like these are usually the brainchilds of editors most of the time.

eg.: The decision of having Shank's hand consumed by the seaking was an idea by the editor of Oda at that time.

Like, when he reached the sage level in his previous life.
He should have understood that trying to revive someone who's been dead for YEARS is impossible.

everyone talking about the randomly thrown in resurrection plot thing but nobody's talking about the wolf guy
it doesn't look like it's being arrogant so why is it so slow
and why didn't they just run from it? judging by page 15~17 the wolf attacking was slower than the girl running like double or triple the distance
and why can he suddenly defeat the thing when she died? sure seeing your loved one die gives you adrenaline or smth but like..
the only possible explanation for not killing the thing earlier is that he's afraid he might hit his sis but it still doesn't explain why they didn't just run from the somewhat strange looking slug creature

nobody cared as he should have incinerated him easily, just a plot device

The teacher at the end of the chapter will be his sister's reincarnation.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the commenters here. This resurrection backstory is completely idiotic and came from nowhere. Even if they're trying to throw in a future plot point, you'd think a sage would have matured enough to realize there's some things even magic can't fix.

Yeah, it's a foolish plan.
Wanting to resurrect the dead without even preserve part of the original body. How foolish of you can be.
