They're super cheap to make, and there’s actually a market for them, as plenty of people watch them, which results in profits. It’s the same across the entertainment industry.

This smells of the trope where mc absolutely refuses to punish/kill this guy because "he was good before and I saw him as a child to protect due to being really XXX years old mentally" to the point of frustration. You could say it won't be like that, but with how half assed this sudden shift was handled I don't think author is very skilled.
