See, you have a point about Almelia going above and beyond as far as being Serina's boss, but 'doesn't abuse her' is a REALLLLY fkn low bar to put her in the role of Serina's girlfriend. She's doing fine as the former, but to want to be a romantic option her interest is clearly not just professional and to have a healthy, balanced, romantic partnership (instead of one gf who is always doing her all to make the other happy and the other gf doing nothing because their class difference precludes her from responsibility) Almelia needs to ackonowledge Serina as an equal and do more to reciprocate her actions. Because romantic relationships are, or at least should be, reciprocal compared to professional ones.

For the "illusion magic" part the prince may suspect (if it's exist in the setting): the illusion may hide the hand and simulate blood, but even if the magic can simulate tactile feedback (like in Der Werewolf) I don't think it could allow objects to pass trought the hidden hand, meaning that a doctor, or someone else, who visisted Serina and bandaged her would see that there was something fishy in the case.


BTW when Almelia gave Serina her ribbon to bite was a cute moment.
And also this asshole don't realize that everyone else except maybe the top magicians of the world would die taking an attack like that. No "if even a low class like you could stop the attack", he knows nothing

If things go well she can just live the life a scholar together with Serina, something that suites her way more than the political life.

Of course I have no real expectations that it will go smoothly for them like that.

I feel like there is something to this chapter people are overlooking - I have seen some people call what Serina did here an asspull, but see, if that was all it was, the author could have simply said "op protagonist time", reveal that she has some special power, and called it a day, as is the established way with these kinds of stories.

But that's not what they did.

They specifically established that Serina used magic to alter her own genes, which seemed to be fairly doable, if painful, and theoretically would probably be able to anyone with access to magic and a basic understanding of genes. It's just that nobody in this world was aware of genes - up to this point.
In short: on one hand, it's nice that she just laid the foundation for her very own brand of instant speed healing and body alteration magic, if she hones it a bit.
On the other hand, she may have just opened a door. One that leads to a body modification arms race with potentially horrifying outcomes in the very near future, once more unscrupulous powers hear of this.
Powers who may also want to lay claim on her.

If I am even just the least bit correct, then Almelia and Estelle will have their hands full defending this goofball from the consequences of her well-intentioned actions very soon.

We may get the aesthetic if Almelia insists that Serina add gauntlets, vambraces, rerebraces, and pauldrons (in other words, armor from the shoulder to the tips of the fingers) to her attire whenever they're out and about.

"If you're going to protect me, I want to protect you.", and all that.

I love this idea! Paladin type characters are the coolest imo so adding armor onto the dweeb would be funny and cool ^_^

It also incentivizes us to use some critical thinking in the future, applying our real-world knowledge and what we learn from the story and putting them together

Well we don't actually know how much direct control she has over her genome. We also don't know how much biology she actually knows, so her potential abilities with this are currently unknown. Like theoretically she could grow a tail, but I don't know if she knows that she could do that. More interesting question might relate to how magic is produced in the body, and if it could be enhanced through her abilities

Anything bad that happens now is probably a set up to a joke is what I learned.

Serina, the REAL Serina, on page 1. No mask, no armor, just a lonely girl and her trauma.
More importantly Serina Actual talking in a situation with anyone else, more critically Almelia. 8 damn pages of Serina's actual identity, starting on page 6.
I appreciate that regrowing nerves is pain incarnate.
I dont think Leonardia actually needs to be disinherited, but he should be thrown into an arena with, and beaten to the edge of death by, Almelia. Dude needs the clarity and humility of a Near Death Experience, Lest the unspecified kingdom suffer a Prince Vegeta IV situation.

Counterpoint, Reminder: We have an entire splash page dedicated to the MC calling out the entire fucking world that they are absolutely dogshit at understanding magic.

She explicitly says that it works for the burns, takes off the other bandages, then focuses on figuring out some other attempt and then finds and activates a specific gene on the X chromosome to activate. Whether shes essentially forcibly making her cells 3d print a new hand one layer at a time, or inducing pluripotency isnt addressed, but she is explictly NOT using the same technique as the Rapid Regeneration, especially since the rapid regeneration doesnt cause searing agony.

You can heal burns just not 3rd degree burns and yeah its not rapid regen its ass pull.
