I'm seeing a lot of calls for almelia to confess honestly in this comments section, and while I agree I think we have to remember the context beyond the pining-- Almelia isnt just a girl who struggles to communicate her feelings, she's a high-ranking noble with immense respect for the customs surrounding that role who is entirely resigned to marriage with a man that hates her and a lifetime of mind games because of it. The woman she loves is her servant who she cannot marry, and who attempting to marry anyway would result in the implosion of both of their lives in nobility. She also probably feels like there was no shot to begin with at this point, as its coming to light that (like always) she just fumbled a social interaction-- something she is shown to know she does, but can't seem to help.

At this point, I'm thinking the only way this could end happily for them is if Almelia resigns from nobility to pursue knighthood or something-- a role which would allow her to flex her magic and swordsmanship, and possibly be more socially acceptable to be as harsh as she is compared to the image of a social-warfaring noble lady.

I'd just realized how much scattered brain our maid is. She's 30-ish in mental age. (isekai'd when she was a JK then about the same length as "peasant" here).

Being a teenager twice does not equal 30 year old mental age. Sure she might have 30 year worth of memories (close to 20-25 since the early ages wouldn't be that clear) but that just means everything she knows is done with the knowledge a hormone riddled teenage brain. If she had been reincarnated in her 20s rather than in her teen she would most likely have done and said things differently.

Aw damn youre right. I remembered the monologue, but not the panel of her as a baby. TBH that makes even less sense if u ask me, since it means she's had a whole lifetime to get used to magic being in her body. Having had a few months like I thought wouldve made the whole 'yeah im super aware of this because I basically just got a new blood in my body' thing stronger. Im gonna pretend my thing is true bc death of the author but thank you for pointing it out, its good to know Serina is just that much of a dumbass LMAO

....like, that you can't ignore it is kinda what makes it her duty? like, she could defy it, but it would come at great personal cost, . probably to them both. especially because her fiance is in line for the throne.
