The comments are honestly weirding me out. I totally get someone not wanting to be taken advantage of, but on the other side of that coin… it’s this dude’s life. He’s supposed to be early 30’s, and clearly isn’t being “tricked”. He shows more awareness of the situation than either the mother or the daughter.
So, who cares? If the dude wants to help someone, then that’s that. It’s his choice to do so, he isn’t being “forced” by this woman and her kid. We all know this will likely be a romance story but even if it was just a pleasant friendship then that’s not a bad reason to have people around. A lot of the world outside of the USA has mixed-family homes.
TL;DR I don’t feel like I understand the vitriol people have against the guy, or the mother. If he wants to help someone, that shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s his life.
