The threat to kick them out will always be empty because the setting where the three is under one roof is necessary for the cooking and series to continue. Just like Kyou mo Veranda de it’s plot armour.

So our MC is expected to give in every time. FMC will continue to treat our MC as her meal ticket, though her daughter is more self aware now.

Unless the series gets cancelled at some point or MC puts some raw chicken and eggs in front of them and declares they need to learn how to make a basic meal.
Either that or MC cooks with the daughter. I don't like it, even if wholesome.
dont you get it those fffffffffffucking bittttttches are all the sssssssssame, I know because I've never mmmmmmmmmmmet one
You know why Oddish Evolves to Gloom to Vileplume? The author knows what happens to a wife. If you have enough stones ( money ) even a gloom becomes beautiful.

The more chapters that go by without her giving some basic answers, the more scummy she and the story gets...
... and the more sweeter and more contact the daughter and the mc gets. Especially 1 year later (15), 2 years later (16). Oh yes... so familiar.

Yes, I know this trap, DROP.

Damn these comments are going wild on the "scum wamen and cuck mc" but like... sometimes shit doesn't work out the first time y'know? You ever heard the expression "right person, wrong time", because that's what (I think) is going on here.

My uncle got back with his ex after like an eight year seperation. They both had another kid with different people in that time so now they have four altogether. They're mature enough now to make it work. What's wrong with that?
The only difference here is that she's on hard times, and he's not. So that seems to speak to some revenge-hungry part of the population that thinks that if a woman had sex with you they owe it to you to not stop having sex with you ever. But like... in real life? People break up for all kinds of reasons dude. It's ok.
She's a little ditzy, but there is not nearly enough evidence to drop into calling her character a horrible person. Like, give it a minute to cook.
When I see an overly dressed woman, that is legit a shop worker.

Well at least he finally gave her a deadline although I am 100% sure he won't follow through with anything

Christ, people need to grow the fuck up. Everyone thinks he's being spineless letting her move in with him, but even the story itself is pointing out that yeah, it's a bit of a concerning set of circumstances that he needs to be careful navigating. His friend even outright told him, just last chapter, to make sure he isn't being taken advantage of.

Setting aside what is clearly meant to be a plot point that develops and/or comes back around in the future, the chapters establish that she's out there actively working a job. Which means she is presumably doing her share while living under his roof. And as this chapter has just revealed, even before their apartment got wrecked she was working herself well past what is healthy, coming home half-dead with instant dinner. Why?

Oh I dunno maybe it has something to do with providing for her daughter as a single mother.

We don't know all the details. We don't know why she chose to go to him after seven years apart. That's called telling a story. We will eventually learn more as the story and the characters develop. But she clearly has a job, and she is clearly working to provide for her daughter. So she isn't some scumfuck freeloader living at his house doing absolutely nothing.

So many manga out there- hell, so many works of fiction in general- focusing on the importance of kindness and empathy and helping your fellow man, and yet people scorn this manga and its MC for daring to open up his house and home to a person in need. Y'all really need to reconsider the media and/or people you're surrounding yourself with if this is what sets you off.
Would have been a lot more palatable if only the mangaka just confirmed she's providing expenses for the food and/or some rent

like tbh i don't mind him helping them. its just that he's so easy with it. No risks, no thinking, no sitting down and talking it out, making sense of things. have an understanding and agreement. Or just maybe being more aware of the situation. I bet he was just going to go with it if his friend didn't show up and point out the circumstances. Like idc if they've known each other since they were kids. You haven't seen this person, nor have any contact or information about them for SEVENTEEN YEARS. HALF HIS LIFE. He's just so unrealistically trusting and naive.

while i do think helping acquintance having shelter is a nice thing, the way MC happy even if his ex is deceiving, as long as he get to her smile.... is what makes me label him as kind of simp.... like, that was a really pathetic. No hard feeling on helping people, but to be okay with deceived as long the woman is happy is way too low.

just from me, but he can said "she will not do that" to this friend who tell him to aware of her motive is way better than being okay to be used.

Also the way she just casually describe his place on what kind of place she want come of as scummy for me, dunno why

I hate to think that the only thing that's going to redeem the mother is a dark development. Like forced marriage by her parents or the other forced thing that I won't even try to type. Any other routes would only paint the mc as a pathetic cuck. If he doesn't feel affection for her anymore and let her leech him off because they're a mother-daughter in need of help to survive, I may think otherwise but... he definitely still wants her.

Anyway great ntr porn. 10/10 would jack off again.

How long can they avoid having the mother actually talk to MC about the daughter and why she's there? :pout:
Seriously. I may not have asked any questions in the first couple of days but after that I would demand a reason. The reason could be something dangerous to him, or the father may be extremely jealous and beat the shit out of him after tracking them down.

(Edit: We DO have the first chapter explanation that "their apartment is being rebuilt", if we trust it, but absolutely nothing on the daughter.)

He doesn't even know if she's never married (she's not wearing a ring), widowed, divorced, or on the run from an abusive husband, debt collectors, or even the police. The last one is unlikely with Kyou starting to work and Minori going to school. If she really is looking for a new place then she's probably not on the run at all.

We'll either get the answer really soon or this will be a perpetual mystery. Hopefully the author has a reason and a plan to reveal it. This does appear to be the mangaka's first work, according to MAL, after all.

(I rambled more than I meant to here...)

I don't know how homeless shelters are in your country but here in France, they are essentially dormitories where you need to sleep with many people, many of them being tramps or not too clean people (I'm not judging them, there are many reasons to fall down to such state and I'm sure they deserve help). But in any case, if an old acquaintance came to me and asked for help, if I have a free room, I would welcome him or her and not redirect him or her to a homeless shelter.
That being said, I find this story until now very lazily written and I'm still not sure that the author really thought of a believable backstory to the ladies. It seems more like a "What if" scenario until now.

Ok so she is basically a parasite who left him - find another dude, then bang, got a child and come back after 17 years!!! To eat for free and don't searching for home.....
If u read u can see she called him Heartless as a "joke" but ma'am.. who rly is heartless here?
We don't know anything about what happened. We just know that they broke up (the friend didn't say "dumped", at least in the translation). She may have found a job and had to move away, or had to leave to take care of a parent, or who knows. She may have gotten married then pregnant, or hooked up, or even raped. Or maybe she IS a parasite who DID leave him because his dick was too small and she started banging Big Dick Chads until the condom broke.

We just don't know. There's just too much vitriol in this chat stream.

With this mangaka we have nothing to go on. It looks like it's her first work, according to MAL. We have no history of her works to draw on for direction. It's a blank slate.

The Japanese comments on this chapter are funny because they're split between people who can't make croquettes at home, those who find them too tiresome to make, and those who can make them but prefer buying them because their price is a godsent.

It seems the croquette lore runs deep among the Japanese, lol.
Are they that annoying to make?

Oh, and the daughter is slowly starting to gain fans; it seems like this chapter's hairstyle has captivated a few readers.
Not Japanese but I do cook - it's a bunch of steps for sure if you don't have leftover cooked potatoes on hand, and inconvenient compared to dishes that more readily go with rice which is the more common Japanese staple anyways, and then there's all the work with deep frying oil and how it can take a while to get through the whole batch.

Not worth making a few of, but also a hassle to make a bunch at a time. We Poles feel the same way about Pierogi, TBH.

But I am in the mood to make come Croquettes this weekend. I bake mine instead of frying them following this JOC recipe, though I stuff mine with cheese usually. Baking them with a spritz of oil instead of deep frying also makes them more convenient to batch cook.

Why are so many of the comments so weird? Calling the mom a hoe and the mc a cuck? Do people here not understand empathy? It's been 17 years since the breakup and the fmc has a kid. If she's willing to ask for help and he accepted, it didn't seem like they ended on the worst of terms and there hasn't been any leftover resentment shown. If he has the room, why not lend them help. And while her actions haven't been the greatest, we've been shown that she's an airhead and with his he's used to it she's been like that for awhile. The people who think her actions are of malice or her trying to take advantage of him are likely either extremely pessimistic or projecting their hate of women onto her.

I swear it's like they're reading a different story. If there's some hint I'm missing, let me know. There's still a chance the story might turn that way later, but as of now it's just a dude helping an ex who needed some help.
