You're talking as if destroying buildings and bridges before they actually fail don't happen in real life. Your analogy actually supports what the guy said.
Context matters, guy. Just because something happens doesn't mean it's the solution for every situation.

A rope bridge that LOOKS rickety TO YOU doesn't mean that it WILL break. Some buildings being condemned doesn't mean that you can just demolish any building you come across on that slightest of pretenses.

For everyone bagging on Delia, you have to remember what sort of environment she grew up in. She has literally watched babies/little kids starve to death. That's part of why she is the way she is. In her intro, she's stated that she's totally willing and ready to offer up her flowers to be able to get out of her situation in the orphanage. Most humans can't understand the level of despair that that requires. The current lack of Blue Priests, means the vast majority of Grey Priest and Below is effectively on starvation rations. Can't have leftovers if there aren't people to have food in the first place. Chapter 8 Page 17 After the Temple Head kicked out their mothers, they kept the under 6 kids trapped in the dark, with barely any food, and didn't even bother to show all the kids any parental love. Even the ones that survive, barely have any real education. That's like asking to create sociopaths. She's sent to Myne as a known Spy, for the Temple Head. Myne can't reject her, and also knows that she reports some of what is happening to him. Which is part of why they keep some things from her. Until later, it's mainly treated as a form of mischeiviousness.

As shown by Gil's response in this chapter, the younger attendants are all extremely self conscious that Myne is going to leave/drop them. They don't have the lived experience to know that Myne has any long term loyalty to them. Myne is literally the only person with the "power" to help anyone at the orphanage. The Head Priest only has so much influence, and limited funds to actually help them. Myne doesn't help things, with her own actions being transactional in terms of getting them to work.

And even the "betrayal" isn't even a betrayal of Myne. She's literally too ignorant to understand the consequences of what her choice would result in. She doesn't know that her actions would result in the baby she's begun to love, to literally be less than a human slave. She assumes that he'll go into a situation similar to her own, that of some sort of servant. Based on the Anime's depiction, she wasn't even expecting for Myne to be a target. The true tragedy of Delia, is that she was too ignorant to understand the kindness of others.

She will won't be killed. Myne saves her life by sentencing her to a lifetime of being in the place she hates and fears the most, the orphanage, as her punishment. Meaning she can never be an attendant, bought/sold, or have a higher standing than an orphan. She survived through the conditions and trauma of starvation and hopelessness from the lack of Gods' Grace from before Myne improved the conditions and fears returning to that more than anything else. Which to her was a punishment worse than death.

In practice it's quite the opposite.

Delia has witnessed the changes to the orphanage herself so she'd know the horror of her childhood won't repeat itself (but other nobles wouldn't know about that)
Not to mention it means she can stay with Diluc/Dirk.

And even the "betrayal" isn't even a betrayal of Myne. She's literally too ignorant to understand the consequences of what her choice would result in. She saw the contract and thought he'd get a good life.
Then it was revealed the REAL, slavery contract, was hidden underneath.

So it's less she didn't know and more she got straight up tricked by a person she thought she could trust.

Not being separeted from her family was aprt of the contract for her to work in the church, that they get to break said contract (which was a magic contract BTW) and suffer no consequence still bothers me.
There was never a written contract between Myne and the temple, not even a non-magic contract. It was all negotiations done through talking. If there had been a magic contract, they would not be able to go against it. They would be forced to first cancel the contract, which would require the approval from every single person who signed it.

Also, as Ferdinand explains in the LN, they never expected Myne to have THAT MUCH mana. It is to the point where she poses a threat if she fails to control it, so they can't allow her to not learn how to control it.

She has seen recent experience of this as well. The music-loving blue priest abandoned the girl who is teaching Myne instruments when she left for greener pastures.
It's a stretch but Myne is different, is she not? She's not a born noble, nor does she act like a noble. To just cut your losses now and do something tantamount to betrayal is jumping the gun by a lot.

I'm just disappointed that she just showed how she didn't change.

"This bridge might fall so I'll just jump into the ravine first!"

EDIT: oh, better yet "I'll cut the rope myself, see? I knew it was gonna snap!"
Did you ever read any historical document or old story? It's obvious that you didn't.

Do you know what life young girl like her have without any support? Either she find a master to protect her for the rest of her life, in this case Myne never denied that she will abandon her when she grow up and leave the place, or she find a man with enouth money to live a half decent life.

These are the two best prospect she have for her future... Either wroking as a servant or being a mistress...
If she cant find any of these her next best prospect will be to become a prostitute.

Do you even understand what choice she have to make at her age?

official LN site for the english translation here
https://j-novel.club/series/ascendance-of-a-bookworm
So, up to current release on that site, it's $223.68 to read these book as they sell each part of the volume for $7, and each volume has many parts.

Haha, no. No, I don't think so. It's $7.99 if you get it from Amazon for Kindle, so it's $255.68. For five volumes. That's insanity.

Just to clarify.
Christine (priestess, btw) was planning to come back for Rosina once Christine herself reach adulthood and have more control of her own life.

It's not a contract, but he did wrote down the conditions they wanted:

That's not part of a volume. Those are separate volumes. The story itself is split into 5 arcs, which they name Parts. The website also splits volumes into parts because they release the volume weekly in pieces, but when you buy it the file you get for the released book is the entire volume. I understand why this may be confusing at a glance, but the series is 33 volumes at $7.99 each.

(The manga you are currently reading is an adaptation of Part 2, and is currently at Part 2 Volume 3's content.)

The problem is that she is a moron, and even considering only her immediate self interest she is STILL choosing the worst prospective.
On one hand she can stick with Mine and MAYBE in the future she will have to look for another patron; in the meantime, she is treated better than anyone else in her same position had a right to ask (in this particular world) and she would be learning useful skills to find a new sponsor.
Or she can betray the only person in the world that treated her well, and STILL lose her job when Mine leaves, since her usefulness is directly tied to her ability to spy on her; only now she is known as the untrustworthy wench that will betray you for a shill. Good luck finding a new employment...

@WhimsiCat Jeebus. That makes her situation even sadder. Like I said in my spoiler, I'm going off the anime. So I'm glad you added that context. But Dang. Where did all these rain clouds come from?

Here we can easily see how boys and girls act (even if they're kids) - Gil thinks logical and straightforward, he brings up his plead to Myne and get her personal assurance. Delia on the other hand, thinks emotional and short-sighted, choosing the temple head as the chance of getting thrown out by Myne is enough to convince her to jump ship, even if she can prolong her good life while playing both side. She doesn't even consider talking to Myne, already thinking it's futile, further convincing her to just stick to the temple head.

It's not just a boys vs girls...
  • Gil is 2 years older than Delia, so it's expected he would be a bit more mature. And he's never had any contact with other blue priests. So he's in a situation of either sticking to Myne, or risking being sent back to the orphanage. Not much of a choice there.
  • Delia has lived for a full year in the High Bishop chambers, and the man has been grooming her at a time she was really easy to influence. Myne has never truly considered Delia as trustworthy, and of course Delia would sense that, Myne is always hiding stuff from her, so she knows her status in Myne's chambers is shaky at best.

For a contract, nobles would conjure their wand, transform it into a stylus, channel mana into it while signing a contract, and effectively have the same result. So I think, with the right control of mana, she should be able to activate the stone without using her blood. And our girl is also a repeat offender when it comes to overloading feystone, though it’s not known yet at the current time of the story.
even for baptisms nobles don't just pour in pure mana into their registration medals they do it using a magic tool meaning pure mana can't be it only. there's also probably the point of needed protection since Sylvester wouldn't want it to activate while she is angry and unable to control her mana(something he repeatedly witnessed)

He just took notes of the meeting (on wood, not parchment). No one signed anything, so it's not a contract. And obviously not a magical contract as the person I was responding to claimed.
there is no president that a contract can't be written on wood (especially for non magic contracts) the only president that there is that contracts can't be done using plant paper. Also magic contracts can be kinda flimsy and not entirely great unless a lot of rules are specified and as the discussion Benno was having was about the plant paper i don't think it would discuss anything about the other forms that can be used (remember that Myne used wood to form official contracts back when first developing paper in the form of order forms (those are a type of contract). also there are many points in the story where the flimsiness of magic contracts is shown
there's 2 that immediately come to mind. 1st happens in part 4 and that's the magic contract between Sylvester and countess Dahldolf (shikzas mother) where she's forbiden from having anything to do with her yet in part 4 she can still even interact with items registered with Mynes mana. 2nd comes in the form of a discussion in part 5 at the 3rd year interduchy tournament. Where the contract was non-enforacble because it was written on plant paper even if one was thinking that they were signing a contract and a magical contract at that
Also no noble and especially Ferdinand would use only a verbal agreement only on a child of such potential exploit and contributions that is myne

About your spoiler:
The contract in part 2 with Shikza's family was signed by Viscount Dahldof, not Viscountess Dahldof. Sylvester likely didn't expect the man to not be able to control his wife. For the part 4 "contract" of bride-stealing ditter, it was supposed to be a contract (signed and everything, not valid just because it was on plant paper), but it was NOT a magic contract. If it had been a magic contract, it would have gone up in flames when signed, and everyone in the room would have instantly realized a contract had been signed.

Also, why would Ferdinand have needed a contract to make sure Myne would do as she had promised? She's just a commoner from a poor family, there is absolutely no way for her to avoid being forced to obey orders from nobles to respect what she promised. And besides, without the temple help, she's dead with the devouring. Not like she had much of a choice to respect her words or not.
Again, I repeat myself, nothing was signed between Myne or her parents, and the temple. There was no contract at all, just promises made during a verbal negotiation.

But in this case Myne can use magic, so why she still need to use her blood for the magic tool that Sylvester give her?
As you have seen with the carriage, god of darkness magic can absorb magic. In a scenario where a noble kidnaps her, they will of course seal her magic so use of blood is safer
