I think this is too far, too fast. I like this manga for not dragging shit for ages like so many others do, but this is so abrupt.
Chokki is a weirdo, but she didn't come as so daring so far, it is out of character. She was all flustered and timid only a few chapters ago and now she openly sniffs a dude — with great insistence ? In public too ? She is a japanese female and not the sukeban/gyaru kind. Females, especially Japanese, are timid, especially at that age. They're even the only country that came up with the notion of "indirect kiss". Japanese adult couples barely hold each others hands in public. Not only that, but she insists and does it AGAIN after reading — and telling the guy — about the sexual implications — out loud. I think any female realizes that doing that is the equivalent of saying "I'm in heat, mount me". Most wouldn't dare, even if the urge was there. don't know man. I wish this chapter came later, after more development of their relationship.

Chokki has always been a free-spirit, who did what she liked so much so she got a nickname from everyone else in the school, she might be a bit more flustered around shun but they have been together for over a year now, they are comfortable with each others presence. She has shown that she knows what she wants and always strives for it, no matter how wierd.

I am all for college, then job hunt and working. As long as we get them becoming an official couple, marring, living together, and maybe hints of sex and then an epilogue with kids running with sticks like their mom did. All compressed with a lot of actual progress.

And they have a really tall daughter and a short son with the daughter inheriting Shun's dry personality and the short son being like Chokki. That is perfectly in character for chokki.

True she wouldnt have ever sniffed him like that normally, but being squished against him for however long the average train ride is, face buried on his chest, she had no choice but to sniff.

Not like she's gonna stop breathing. After being forced to sniff him like that for an extended period of time she inevitably discovered that she REALLY likes the smell. They also have a significantly smaller personal space bubble with each other, as has been adressed in previous chapters. She even ralizes its her own fault their personal space bubble is so small towards each other.

So:
they already are comfortable sharing their personal space.
She was forced to sniff him.
She always goes at her own pace.
Sniffing and smells was an established topic this day.

Results in: "i want to keep sniffing you" being significantly easier to bring up even for normal people; plus her being a weirdo that does as she wants. All that makes her left field comments not that out of pocket

Well, most things that you find appealing are appealing because they increase your survival rate (which thus lets you live long enough to reproduce) or the survival rate of your offspring. This then allows your genes to be passed down, which is basically a "success" for evolution, as you've now got more people doing all this stuff that increases the odds of them reproducing. (Eg. You're all reading romance manga right now because it triggers the part of your brain saying "Yay, I found a mate!" Action manga is "Yay, I got away from the scary predator that could have killed me!" You even love your family because they share the same genes as you, because if they reproduce, they're likely to pass down the same survival-genes as you.) So, really, liking anything is "sexual" in the same manner as her sniffing here. It's all to increase the odds of you producing favorable offspring, but you're not going to call liking McDonalds sexual, are you? Of course not.

But, anyways, about the cover. Shun is violating so safety regulations right now. You can't sniff something directly, you might inhale dangerous chemicals! You have to waft it towards your nose so that you're just getting the smell. It's almost like the author skipped all their middle and high school science classes.
