I don't know what's gonna happen but I am like 99.9% sure this author will not go the fake triangle route. It wouldn't even be a good plot device. For one, our mains have been married for so long and more importantly, this author actually knows how to write mature romance

The volume cover cast overview kinda spoils it and says that this new guy is close with Kenta. I'm betting he'll meet Kenta and get along with him a lot and not be interested in Chihiro much.

As the others have mentioned, there is nothing to worry about! There is some issues I have with him and his place in the story but the author is great at staying in their lane and keeping it consistent. Also, a rival this late in without them instantly shutting it down would make no sense with this not being a Shoujo.

They take him under their wings and help him improve his situation. They pretty much (inofficially-)adopt him. He is gonna spend more time with her but Kenta is like a rolemodel to him and everyone's place is made clear quickly.

My issue with how he is integrated into the story: he is a young working adult + pretty much a stranger to everyone.
Her going 1on1 with him and out of her way for him to this extent is a bit uncomfortable to me. Again, adult. Kenta's wife shouldn't have to solo drive to the house of a man she talked to once and feed him and make sure that he lives properly. Irks me.
I like how their relationship ends up but how it happened and the early stages are not organic at all and the whole setting paired with his particular characterization just make it a bit... weird.

technically adopting him is weird and her doting on him who barely knows each other gives me the jitters, and how her first impression is he looks good being that worn down .. 🤷‍♀️

What a strange chapter or should I say arc in general? I didn't quite get his purpose in the story, and I'm not interested at all. Chihiro being this worried about him is definitely weird. Kenta asking her to visit him was even weirder. Reading the spoilers here doesn't make it any better, though. Please, begone.
