You kids like some hope!?

Those last few pages, wow. It was weird how easy it was to overlook the yelling before the door opened because Nanao had me totally used to just seeing those barking dogs. I didn't realize it was the slavers getting the crap kicked out of them off-camera until, like, the third pass.

Also, the standard update for those reading along: next week, and the week after that, are both breaks. Series will return in three weeks.

Nanao has taken some lessons from Helck, the final part of Helck was a little too much with the whiplash of hopeful/hopeless that it did get a little too much.

But this here... I could feel the dread but at the same time was ready for some hope.

Those two must be pissed at Cleo, and truth be told, he is deserving of a little beating for this stunt, things would have gone so much easier if he at least had sent a letter to them.

Bet the guys in Varka gave them a tip after Taurobe went back.

I despise slavers with a passion.
I'm going to go boot up Kenshi now. Why? No reason. If you know, you know.
Give them hell, rip and tear.

And remember... what do they fear?

i wish our MC could start to heal, but he first needs the harsh awakening first. at least he's with actual friends now and might recover in a safe environment. where the story will lead afterwards, i have no clue, but i'm curious.

Aw c'mon man you can't do this.
There's a part of me that suspects that this was originally supposed to be two chapters, and so what we would've got was half the chapter this week, and the second half next week, and then just a single week off. But Nanao just couldn't bear to leave us at rock bottom even longer. While we'll probably never know, it makes me inclined to be glad we got it this way.

Although it also means that if after a few weeks we find out this is some sort of illusion or fakeout or something, I will be on the verge of flying to Japan just to find a way to yell "YO WHAT THE FUCK!?" straight into Nanao's face.

This right here officer, this is my fetish...

This chapter finally elevated Cleo to my most favorite manga protagonist. No matter how much shit he went through, he just keeps rising and ask some more. A lot of anguish and suffering and all's hope is lost. Amazing chapter.

I'm at the point where I'm not sure whether I more want Kohaku to come back or for Cleo to be able to move on...or at least accept it
cleo finally moved on is when the series end. i believe kohaku will return. but before that the next arc would be the preparation arc for the all out of war arc
