I wonder if this will be one of many reasons why Yami is willing to let Hikari get Yuu.

Up until she sees Yuu and then it all goes to hell. But her thought process even before she meets Hikari is that Hikari is a far better person than her so of course Yuu loves her more.

Which like, reading this manga/novel more closely then I ever planned, I was so happy w/ Hikari having ALL THE QUESTIONS for Aya at the beginning, even if Aya blew 'em off.

But yeah, this move 100% fits with the edgelord nonsense Aya has been pulling.

Yami is really fucked up in this chapter. Everyone who tried to be nice to her she always wants to ruin them first. It's like she's trying to test them to see their limit. She's upset, so everyone should burn with her.

Up until this point I was rather okay with YamI. Sure she wasn’t the best and she treated everything terribly, but we saw in the present that things might have been better for her…so while she did some bad stuff she seemed a better person.

Now, though, we have….whatever the hell this is. This is too much. I don’t care if it is a prank or what, this went way too far. To summon some random guy that Hikari doesn’t know for the whole sugar dating thing is just a straight unforgivable thing to do. Full stop. Hikari should not forgive her this, but unfortunately we know they are best friends, so yeah.

I have no idea where Maruto is taking this and honestly, I dunno if I want to be around for the ride anymore.

I remember this manga where Character B left Character A in a position to die. The only way for Character A was to be redeemed was to be hit with: (1) Instant Karma and (2) enormous guilt over their actions in total, including screwing Character A.

THIS was the only way for this character to be redeemed. And it was a very touching moment.

I don't see this happening with Yami. Not at all. If she was remotely remorseful at all, she would be tiptoeing around Hikari, not to do anything to harm her, especially not anything like kissing the boy Hikari was interested, despite Yami having history with him.

No, Yami can't crawl back from this. Her "sympathetic" backstory gets "two pronged attacked" by kissing before the flashback (ie the present) and her using Hikari as bait in this flashback.

Like Hikari out here being an absolute sweetheart, genuine, no ulterior motives, and Yami’s just a bitter little shit who hates joy and thinks breaking the law, potentially ruining someone’s life with a scandal and putting them in a position where they could be assaulted or worse is a funny joke. Like I’ve seen people in revenge manga do less for far far worse than, lemme check my notes, genuinely enjoying and taking an interest in you as a person and wanting to potentially be your friend.

Waiting for Yami’s simps to come rushing to their goddess’s defense. Come on, guys, it’s about time you face the facts—she’s a terrible person. She’s literally committing crimes in this chapter. How much longer are you going to turn a blind eye to her actions?

Honestly, I have no idea what Maruto is doing with Yami’s character at this point. The more he reveals about her, the harder it becomes to see any redeeming qualities. Maybe that’s the intention—to paint her as irredeemable. But if that’s the case, there’s no way Hikari and Yami’s friendship can survive when the story returns to the canon event.
