i dont get the whole "NTR" thing. This current mini arc is a flashback of something that happened way before both the events of the story. I do think it should have had more foreshadowing, but i dont think this changes the intent of the story at all.

I could be completely wrong ofc, but imo we'll go through an arc of drama then go back to business as usual. My opinion depends on how the drama will be handled once the flashbacks end and we're back in the present. Some drama is just as cookie cutter as the cookie cutter romance stories, filled with miscommunication, misunderstandings, and unrealistic scenarios. Other drama is extremely well written, believable, and you can have empathy for the characters.

So far its the latter imo, they just needed more of a build up to foreshadow it. Then again there IS certain panels with ayami in it that seem out of place tonally compared to the rest of the scene, and when you reframe certain things the male main character says its exactly the same. So there were subtle hints in previous chapters.

This wasn't well written it is the epitome "forced drama". It completely changes the main guy in a negative way causing the reader to hate him destroying the last 20 chapters of build up. The dude is toxic and should never be in a relationship with Hikari. So many people here seem to think being edgy means it is good writing when in reality it is just lazy.

What's so negative about him and how is he toxic?

No. I don't think so. The entirety of whole mini-arc is just absolutely distasteful to anyone reading this. The story was building up hype about this character for 21 fucking chapters, you're rooting for her then...

BOOM

They drop a bombshell on you, then gets on with it with a different story for 10 fucking MUCH LONGER chapters than what came before. The MAIN HEROINE, hell, the MAIN GODDAMN PROTAGONIST, is forgotten in the dust, and they make it up to you with another girl. It's completely ridiculous! You order milk, then you start drinking and drinking, then for some reason the damn thing suddenly turns sour and it turns out to be orange juice. What the hell?

Honestly, this thing could've done better, only if they put this entire section later. The shock needs some time to fester. It needs some time for the wound to heal and be a scar that she moves on from, or start to necrotise and become hatred or whatever. But the mangaka/author decides to rub in the salt DEEPER. Here's my question, what fucking intent is the author/mangaka making? That your "main tsundere genki girl is LOSING no matter what?"

In my perspective rn, it's just making me angry that at this point, that we know nothing of this character that as of now, that she is a mature best friend who I believe in her eyes, betrayed her. Let me see from Hikari's perspective first, then we'll get to Aya.

Here's the thing, I'm not salty that she loses, it already says there on the tin, I KNOW what's to come. I'm salty that the mangaka decides to throw her the fuck out of the window out of nowhere, and show nothing of what happens to her afterwards, especially when we've been following her for like 21 goddamned chapters.

If you want to make me sympathize with her, don't do it while I'm in shock, damnit. Let me process how sad I am first then we'll get to her. Hell, change the perspective to the guy instead or something. At least he's the subject of this manga.

A warning to those who wanna read this manga and decide to check the "comment/review/vibes" about this manga.
As of now (early 2025), this is NOT a fluffy romcom for vanilla enjoyer that the title suggest.
i started this when the latest chapter were 14th then took a break till now (30th),
bingeing chapter 15th to 30th really ruins my weekend.
This manga absolutely deserve my first 1* rating in here and MAL.

Picked this up many months ago when there weren't a lot of chapters and it had a high rating. I look today and the rating dropped to a 6. Read the most recent 2 chapters and I can see why. To anyone reading this comment, I'd suggest not reading this story

There's just no fucking way the author shot himself on the foot like this. It would have been one thing if
Aya was his first girlfriend and they had to break up before things moved forward due to her circumstances. But they were in a happy relationship and took each other's first time. Let me tell you that the first time for a man can have variable effects to said man but for a woman, a first time holds massive significance. They get emotionally connected to said person and even if they are normally cool and aloof that doesn't negate that emotional connection. We don't know exactly how he handled it but 100% he wouldn't have moved on. So if he doesn't end up with Aya now, this will be total nonesense but also if he doesn't end up with Hikari, wtf was all this manga about. Fucking build it up for 21 chapters and then give us the story of a girl that's was much closer to him all along.
I am dropping this permanently, don't even care what happens at this point but seriously for any future potential readers out there: don't read. This is a bait and switch manga, the vanilla stops at 21 and you can argue there's NTR (there's a more appropriate term which I am forgetting, since the MC and FMC are not properly a couple). 1000% not recommended.

I see a lot of hate-bombing on this manga.
I think the issue is that this is for more mature audiences, not in the sense that it contains any explicit content, but that you need to have a more mature taste for storytelling to enjoy it.
To me it is clear now that Hikari isn't necessarily the protagonist. This is instead a POV changing story, where you see events unfold first for the least "aware" character, and then we get a development as to why things ended up being the way they are.
I'm expecting the POV to change soon. Once we get back to the present from Ayami's perspective, we might get a few chapters showing Yuu's POV.
The drama and story are good, a bit soap opera-like, but nothing too extreme IMO.
Hikari being the first character, and having a more innocent POV is what's triggering the more basic audiences into hating it. But if you can put distance between yourself and the story, you will see that she isn't being NTR'ed in any way, she just had a cold taste of reality in which the narratives we hold in our heads aren't always reflective of what's actually going on around us.

Have to disagree on that, I think the story telling is badly paced and jarring. Calling it mature story telling is almost like saying you just need a mature nose to enjoy the manure pile.

I've also defended against any NTR or anything like that. There is nothing in there like that. It's just a badly told story imo.

Do not recommend this piece of shit

Do not waste your time here and save your heart instead

My Hikaru is too wholesome and cute to get involved with some unstable mental people

The plot is out of the place. It’s funny how desperate author trying to justify a prostitute’s behavior. Man ganbare~ YoU cAn CoNvInCe Me 🤮 there’s this term in Vietnam “đừng nghe cave kể chuyện, đừng nghe con nghiện trình bày” means “don’t listen to prostitutes’ stories, don’t listen to addicts’ presentations”

Those two don’t deserve my little girl, she is a good person with a healthy mind and body at hearts. I hate how they’re trying make her resolve their problems like an idiot

She deserves someone better, not some back stabber friends

My girl can move on and find someone wholesome like her

Knowing them is her worst tragedy

Some relationships should be ended soon so that people can realize we should end it sooner

Sorry I’m too frustrating and end up writing this long ass shit

Can't believe I'm bothering to wade into this cesspool where half the haters are screaming about NTR and treating their pure heroine as losing because of events in a flashback from years ago.

On the off chance that anyone is coming to the comments section because they saw the insanely polarized ratings and are wondering what to do: my take is that this is a well written, well executed, story in terms of what it is trying to be. It's just a question of whether you want what it's selling or not. It is not JUST the fluffy romcom it purports to be. I don't want to spoil the experience too much, though it's probably too late for that, but it rapidly pivots in an intentionally jarring way. I found it to be an effective story telling moment that throws both the reader and a character for a loop while suddenly giving the story a new perspective and taking it down a darker, messier, route. However if all you wanted was the fluffy romcom then it's going to be pretty off putting.

TLDR: If you just want a fluffy romcom, then avoid this. If you want a romcom with some fluff and some darker, messier, bits underneath then absolutely give this a look. It isn't NTR, or any of what a lot of the comments are accusing it of.
