If anybody thought this was just some lame attempt to glow-up the MC, you haven't been paying enough attention. This is supposed to be a funny scene because the guy already knew how hard it was to earn money. It's one thing for someone to steal money that he worked for, but it's completely different if the money being stolen was money her mother worked for; the mother he really really missed. No way he was gonna let that pass.

Am I supposed to think this mc is cool? Now that he sees his bully as lesser, he's doing the same unfair things he despises the supervisors at his work for doing. He is actively provoking him and escalating. He didn't start it but he's also choosing not to end it.
