Some people will say "beg pardon?" As a sort of short form. It's quite slangy though so it's not exactly common.

I really thought this was going to be a Japanese style bath because the fantasy world wouldn't have seen that before. Glad it's more interesting than your average "Japan man brings japanese culture to fantasy world" isekai.

Big glorious Nippon culture and design is the peak of multiversal elegance. I'm sure he could be gotten that guy to agree to whatever plans he had if he's just give him a bowl of the pinnacle of Japanese cuisine: plain white rice. There's probably some restriction on it, like it can only produce water until the water covers the stone, which isn't working on his test model because the water is spilling out.

Not a mistake. "beg pardon" is a normal shortening of the phrase. think of it as bewildered slang in much the same way that we no longer say "god be with ye" and instead say "goodbye".
