Okay, alternating between bottom-of-the-trash-can generic-harem-fodder and legitimate life drama is definitely a.. er, bold artistic direction?
No, really, it's like i'm reading two different manga of radically different quality. Here's hoping the latter format is the one that'll be emphasized moving forward..
@Acolytus Nevermind his sense of having been betrayed and abandoned by those he dedicated his life to fighting for, before being cast into a world where few people remember him and those who do think poorly of him because their memory of him has been altered. Moreover, he's coming back from a 17 year war, and the place he's coming back to is different enough that it only reminds him of all that he has lost. His entire life feels, in a way, a waste and, in another way, something which exists only to be regretted. He has powers and freedoms that others would kill for, but everything seems so meaningless and bitter and yet also so much more than he deserves to have.
I mean, really, how did we get to something that can be interpreted so deeply, from "OMIGAWRD HERE ARE UR MIND CONTROL'D INSEKI TITTIES FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH BOOB AND INCEST FETISHES."
Maybe it was all a part of the author's plot to make us feel as though we, ourselves, had been transported between different worlds? ..yeah, let's just.. let's just go with that, then.
