@Rinfolia Wat? Even with a skilled blacksmith, it would take far more than 2 years to make any kind of gun that is better than just using a bow and arrow. Shit would take years of trial and error, R&D and so on. Series that make sort of process look like a walk in the park are dumb.

But the MC already has the general idea of how it's supposed to work, they'd only have to figure out the exact composition and proportions of the gunpowder. No actual R&D involved, just some trial and error. And as far as guns(cannons) go, they're actually extremely simple, early guns and cannons were incredibly crude, but they did their job. And in a siege situation all you really need to do is take out the battering ram, you don't need accuracy for that.

@Askorti even then it took a while for guns to phase out arrows especially the first guns ever made. MC will need more than two years to make guns that are more effective as well as practical than bows and arrows....

@Demize Allowing the enemy to form one big group to be bombed is the most effective method to use the bombs. They can get rid of most of the enemies in one fell swoop. A surprise is only a surprise once, after all.

@givemersspls Flaming arrows are just a thing today's hollywood movie directors made to make war fights more flashy. Arrows covered with oil-imbued tissue weight way too much, making it super hard to fire (even at short distances). You also can't take back any fire arrow shot (since they've been burnt), and not being able to "reuse" arrows is a critical issue in any large scale war. And finally, the speed of the arrows basically extinguishes the flame.
So yeah... not good.

@Askorti Consider the fact that gunpowder took a thousand years before usable guns came along.
Prior to two hundred years ago, the only advantage to using a gun over just a bow and arrow was that they required less training and thus could be put into more hands. It wasn't until the Industrial Revolution where machinery could easily make tiny intricate parts (that would take a blacksmith weeks to do alone) en mass, that we got any kind of rifling where you might actually be inclined to prefer guns.

I find is amazing that people seem to think making usable guns are easy. Like, lmao wat?
