I hope the manga won’t have that, at least. They all seem nice people :(
The line of text is a throwaway in the WN, it got replaced with the full job list rather than a bad joke about how easy it would be to just make his job class Herbalist during a dangerous flight. He immediately breaks and denies doing it thrice. When she was introduced (just before they go to the labyrinth in the WN), he makes a lot of jealousy comments on how beautiful she is about the Duke. The followup is the peak at the Duke's classes and noting the Herbalist. Basically an intrusive thought about how beautiful Cassia is, and MC being jealous that the rich and handsome/beautiful Duke has an exceptionally gorgeous Elf Wife.

I'm pretty sure the LN doesn't have it, but I could be confused.

Best to treat most of what MC thinks to himself as just daydreaming, just a side effect of extreme paranoia, anxiety and overthinking, and like some said intrusive thoughts.
We're now pretty close to the introduction of Miria as far as I'm aware of. And an interesting labyrinth arc with the things happening that we didn't have before (I wouldn't go further in details, otherwise I'll spoil the fun).

The duke asking Michio to enter labyrinths is to "scare" them, as apparently the less visited by adventurers, etc. they are, the more unhinged and dangerous monsters there become. That's why it is sufficient for him to just enter them, though I'm sure there's a part of Duke making him enter these labyrinths to lure him into exploring them later this way.

I'm personally looking forward to chapters with Vesta - she's such a sweet girl and matches Roxanne nicely (and Roxanne is supreme, of course), while I personally found Miria to be very much meh, though they all fit their role inside the party.

Also, what manga falls short for me, as far as the feeling of characters, is that elves actually don't have this beauty impact as they have when reading the LN, Cassia especially. Clearly, the power of more text and ones imagination is strong.

P.S.: Tell me if you consider anything mentioned above to be spoilers and I'll hide it.
Yeah, iirc, the moment he reaps the full profit from the mirrors he'll go to the Allan's recomended capital slave shop and aquire at a bargain price the "cursed" pirate genki catgirl airhead
Yeah, though sending an amateur in would just feed the labyrinth, but Michio, to the Duke, looks like an experienced individual that will carefully and thoroughly clean the floors (not wrong on this part) which is the best he could hope for in such a predicament of two new labyrinths.
Vesta is a Cinnamon Roll, but I would say my fave is sassy Sherry followed closely by Roxanne
I feel the manga portreyed them well enough, anime was underwhelming though

This is honestly one of the things that truly sucks about the MC in the novels.

I originally found this manga and liked it enough to check out the LN. that only goes so far in the story, so I went onto the never-completed WN.

Light novel is definitely better than the web novel, but both have issues with the MC being not just paranoid, but insecure, jealous, and downright stubborn.

A lot of these isekai stories have at least SOME character development of the MC. New world, new chances, new possibilities. And the ones that work best are when the MC reflects on themselves to grow or adapt.

In the novels, the MC is so insecure about the duke while also incredibly jealous of him and completely disregarding… why am I even bothering to write this crap?

I only wanted to agree with you and the other poster.
MC’s vitriolic, jealous lust for Cassia is gross in the novels. It never comes off as funny. It’s only pathetic and nauseating. And I say that knowing full well how much other crap you have to overlook to enjoy this at all.

I hope the manga avoids this. Anything beyond fleeting fantasy would just hurt the MC’s character development more.

And to the other point: yeah. The casual homophobic bits don’t seem funny. Like, I get where this “humor” is coming from, but it’s so lazy.
Just another one of those things to block out of mind to enjoy(?) the fraction of character in the MC…

Edit: due to how the thread loaded, I missed the comment by @Vermilion_Rubin,

“Best to treat most of what MC thinks to himself as just daydreaming, just a side effect of extreme paranoia, anxiety and overthinking, and like some said intrusive thoughts.”

I like this idea. I see some places that could really flip some things. Though, still plenty of harping I don’t want to see carried over to the manga here.
Thanks!

its in English on the book walker app in digital but I don’t think they do physical so French or the original moon runes might be the only options
Curse me and liking to collect things. But hey if imaizumi got an official english release this might too. On that note the vanadis and magica swordsman light novels would be great too : /

Both the LN and the WN have 3.2 ratings on NU, the site known for overrating everything, for a reason. It's just bad.

"Acquired taste" in anime/manga just means "it's terrible but you learn to shut your brain off to enjoy it". You shouldn't have to get dementia to enjoy media.
Lots of things have niche audiences, not everything has to be top rated to be good, especially when it gets a lot of knee jerk haters because of the subject matter.

Strange, I remember MC having thoughts of
stealing duke's wife by making her a widow at this in the novel
.
That was when the MC thought about changing the Duke's job without letting him know, rt? Because he was such an ikeman w/ a beautiful wife IIRC. I would be glad for him not to do it in the manga really (maybe a throw away mini-thought on the page ["I wonder if he would notice if I changed his job to swordsman"], rather than several panels of thinking about it), it was such a pitiful thought process for the MC in the WN, cause you know, he already has Roxanne & Sherry, and his fulfilling sex life. Not to mention, but why would he then get the wife if the duke did die? Just a weird set of thoughts, that I would be happy to drop from being a part of the MC's psyche

Not only money, but also time. These people gather gears for generations in their family/clan.
Our MC may seem “slow”, but he will probably out-gear them in a couple years since he can get Sherry to have 100% success in putting skills into gear.
Not just 100%, but the ability to know which items can have multiple skills.

Honestly, I’d love to read the novel (if I had time). Fan service is fan service but this World and its job system is really cool and I’d love to see a deeper dive into how that’s explored.
yeah i don't know how 'in depth' they'd be able to write the companions b/c i'm sure players would want "cute partners in their party", but if the author wanted, maybe they could work together with a game dev team to turn it into an actuall mmorpg or so, if it's not already popular enough for ppl to make like, a fan game (if it's not already based on some existing popular game in Japan that never got international releases)

What is going on? These releases are getting shorter (9 pages and only 6 of them had actual content) and we still haven't got another girl to the team. This is crawling too slowly

with 8 pages it should be weekly, not monthly. Now i really wonder what other project the mangaka works on. Dont tell me he wash dishes or bartending somewhere 😅

Copy paste of my comment in another manga, but feels it has some relevance here as well

Shrinkflation and the general enshitification of anything that can be monetized at large. The manga we consume has largely moved to an online distribution model, rather then scanning from a physical magazine. So the publishing website can distribute more chapters with fewer pages which in turn means more eyeballs on their website, and more ad revenue.

They can also encourage subscribers to check in more often for daily/weekly uploads of chapter parts whereas before it would have been longer intervals between full chapter releases.

So yeah, it's all about money and trying to keep as much of audience focused on their products while squeezing out enough money to satisfy the perent companies and their investors.

Well that was a whole lot of... Well that was a tiny little bit of nothing. Maybe I'll come back next next year and see if there'll be 10 minutes worth of reading. Thanks for translating what little the author gives us.

IMHO, that would work for weekly manga or let's say for montly manga but with a chapter divided into several parts and then released weekly.
The super short chapter per month is only going to annoy people. Just look at this comment section, I bet the japanese one is no different.

Yeah, in the WN MC also
was only thinking of doing that, however, the duke still gifted MC another elf who got educated quickly by Roxanne.
