I hope the manga won’t have that, at least. They all seem nice people
This is honestly one of the things that truly sucks about the MC in the novels.
I originally found this manga and liked it enough to check out the LN. that only goes so far in the story, so I went onto the never-completed WN.
Light novel is definitely better than the web novel, but both have issues with the MC being not just paranoid, but insecure, jealous, and downright stubborn.
A lot of these isekai stories have at least SOME character development of the MC. New world, new chances, new possibilities. And the ones that work best are when the MC reflects on themselves to grow or adapt.
In the novels, the MC is so insecure about the duke while also incredibly jealous of him and completely disregarding… why am I even bothering to write this crap?
I only wanted to agree with you and the other poster.
MC’s vitriolic, jealous lust for Cassia is gross in the novels. It never comes off as funny. It’s only pathetic and nauseating. And I say that knowing full well how much other crap you have to overlook to enjoy this at all.
I hope the manga avoids this. Anything beyond fleeting fantasy would just hurt the MC’s character development more.
And to the other point: yeah. The casual homophobic bits don’t seem funny. Like, I get where this “humor” is coming from, but it’s so lazy.
Just another one of those things to block out of mind to enjoy(?) the fraction of character in the MC…
Edit: due to how the thread loaded, I missed the comment by
@Vermilion_Rubin,
“Best to treat most of what MC thinks to himself as just daydreaming, just a side effect of extreme paranoia, anxiety and overthinking, and like some said intrusive thoughts.”
I like this idea. I see some places that could really flip some things. Though, still plenty of harping I don’t want to see carried over to the manga here.
Thanks!
